Cup 2 Connect are a different tyre to Cup 2. They have a tread wear rating of 240 and a new construction and new compound which is better in the wet. Maybe they will still suck in very cold climates but I'm lucky enough not to live in one.
For comparison the Bridgestones RE003s on my WRX have a tread wear rating of 220.
