FYI, I have had pieces layered on the rear quarters of my GT3 as the hips get blasted from the soft front tires. The installer cut smaller shark fin type pieces to place over the much larger pieces he installed beneath. It looks good and protects very well. I did this on my last car as well. All said, installing a smaller piece over a larger one, both of quality film, is not a bad idea. As you said above (even though the smaller piece is beneath) see how it looks. If it looks good now you can always redo later if it worsens.
Ok thanks. I just texted them to see if they actually layered over the OEM piece. Just waiting for their reply.

In the meantime, good to know that on your gt3 you did some PPF layering and it worked out.
