Uneven tyre wear on OG M2

My 2017 M2 is due for a new set of fronts. (I've had the car about a month now)

Pulled into the garage last night with my tyre depth gauge and was horrified to find that the inner shoulder on the front right (driver's side; RHD) tyre was down to the cords. The front left left was completely bald.

On both tyres, the inner shoulders are the only badly worn sections. depth gauge showed ~2.4mm on the outside shoulders and around ~4mm at the centre ribs. (Tyre in question is PS4S; *non* star marked)

The tyres have around 21k miles on them since they were installed.

So the question:
1. Is uneven tyre wear a known trait? Or is it uncommon?
2. What could the cause be? From what I've read the front camber isn't adjustable...
3. Will I see even wear by using the star marked PS4S on the front? I see that these have a different construction with multiple compounds.

Hopefully somebody has some answers or insight.
