Taking it to an indie euro mechanic but I’d love input from owners who’ve had this issue.
There are no check engine lights and the car actually runs great. For precaution I just haven’t turned it on since I heard that.

The car is currently out of warranty and I owe over $7000 on it still.

Since I’ve owned it at 43,000 miles I’ve changed oil at 4000 - 5000 miles and do all the maintenance myself. It’s my commuter, currently has 83k

What i think caused it:
I replaced my spark plugs for better performance for NKG one step colder plugs after running the car hard my car shut off and went to neutral.
Since then I replace the OEM spark plugs and car went back to running fine a week past now now I heard this noise on a cold morning.
I experienced the EXACT same thing, I posted it here ------>

Long story short, the dealership was not able to determine what the cause is without tearing the engine down. They did however drain the oil and found metal specs in the oil, so they recommended I replace the engine.

I would start by checking the oil filter for metal shavings and go from there.
