They're definitely both really good cars. And honestly they're different enough that I think there's room to really love both platforms. S2Ks are just
special in a way that Miatas are not. Which is a double edged sword, because half of the fun of the miata is the feeling of "fuck it, its just a miata!" and the car is like "Yeah! I'm here for that action!"
You treat the S2000 with a hell of a lot more respect and it rewards you with an engine character not commonly seen outside of exotics.
I say this as someone who has never owned either, but who's obviously driven both. YMMV.
