The things you do in Solo 2 to go faster :-) Back in the day around 2003-2004 I had my E36M3 modified in BSP to mount 285/30 Hoosiers. Just a couple years later some of the Nat drivers were fitting 315's!
Sure it can be done, and I've not put the time into what might work under the F87 chassis. On my E36 we used E46 fenders, which were cut and grafted on the body. After the wheel wells were all cut up :-)
I'm not chasing trophies anymore but I certainly understand the bug
