Of course there is no way to know for sure because we will not have let this play out without shutting things down. And so the bickering and arguing over what was best to do will continue as always.
Personally I'm pleased to see that decisions are being made with the interest of human lives at the forefront, rather than economic consequences. It runs counter to the stories of everyday greed we've been accustomed to in a capitalistic society. Maybe it gives me a little more faith in society than I had 3 weeks ago.

All fair points but the fact is, we'll never really know if this abundance of caution was really a worthwhile move.. You really can't measure the benefits in quantitative number, other than
feeling that the right moves to err on the side of caution was not all a waste. Life will go on and we'll all absorb the loss and move on..
I'm glad to hear that your faith in humanity was somewhat restored but call me cynical but I feel like all these companies only shuttered to save face, more so than valuing human life over profits.
Nowadays, in the Court of Public Opinion, one's reputation can make or break you, so they really didn't have much of a choice.
I wholeheartedly blame the media for this panic, I'm not exactly saying ignorance is bliss but when they're constantly pounding a specific topic in the public's head, it takes on a life of its own..
Anyways, I can go for days but I won't bore you, I just hope everyone comes to their senses and some normalcy is restored soon..
I'm getting cabin fever from being stuck at home, forced to watch the same old CoronaVirus-theme porno
