I wouldn't say it is loud, but in sports plus with the valves open it has a good note, reasonable volume and a decent amount of burble when you give it a bit (I am still in the run in period so trying not to go above 5k).
But agree it could be louder, hence I can't wait until the AA mid-pipe comes out. My comment was more I like the sound track rather than the volume if that makes sense. Most people complain about the sound of the S55, but I am one of the few that like it.
I would add the thing is silent when in efficient mode.
