I managed to fit that part OK. In fact that was the easiest of the three. Although my new part isn't as flush as my old one was on the M135i.

I'm struggling with the black plastic trim with the M logo on it in the centre of the shifter. It's not shifting

I saw that tip too, in fact I'll try that first.
I used edge of a trim tool, once I got the edge of the black trim I just rocked it up and down gently ( like moving a loose tooth lol) what would help is use a hair dryer first to warm up the gear leaver to loosen up the M3 tape.
