With Carista you could use any bluetooth or wifi adapter that was suitable for ELM327 v1.4.
Obviously I understand if this app only works with wifi, but still any wifi OBD should do the job surely? Or do I actually need the Vgate? Reason being I already have a generic wifi one, so don't want to buy another - but also don't want to subscribe to the app to find the one I have won't work lol

I have no idea if a generic Wi-Fi OBD adapter will work with BimmerCode app. Perhaps ask the developer.
