If also the M2 CS gets the S55 engine (M3/M4) with production at the BMW Leipzig plant, it will be new for that plant, as it never fitted the S55 engine on existing BMW models. But the Leipzig plant does fit the B58 (M140i and M240i).

My guesstimate: MY2018 M2 CS gets a detuned S55 engine (± 400 hp), some lightweight bits and pieces here and there + the 2er LCI features.

Or maybe they are brining the B58 engine to the base M2 so they don't have to keep production the N55 on a small scale for the M2 alone.

All of this is speculation of course but it does help to kill time while waiting...
My guess is the LCI will use the B58 because the N55 won't pass the 2018 EU emissions and the CS will use a modified 'S58'.

It wouldn't surprise me if the S55 is phased out altogether as the B58 has everything going for it,forged internals,closed deck,water to air intercooler etc.
