IMHO your comment is spot on. The question is not whether side mirrors are a deal breaker or deal maker. It's just a design detail, like numerous others on the car.

The question relates to whether BMW should have walked the usual extra mile (thus as they always did in the recent past) by designing a side mirror, or side mirror cap, with a modern ///M look and feel. This to further distinguish the M2 from the regular 2er.

BMW M didn't walk that extra mile this time for this car part, and personally I think that's a missed opportunity. The football was right in front of an empty goal, but BMW M decided not to kick it inside (for now).

Oh well, maybe they want to keep some goodies for BMW M Performance Parts, the future M2 LCI or - only BMW knows - the M2 CSL ?
