Used car buying suggestions for under $12k
Hello,
I'm in desperate need of car and need to buy asap for under $12k. Need suggestions deciding which one to buy in terms of long term reliability and maintainance costs. Bimmer, Merc, Aud or Lex. Also any classified link with decent deal would also be awesome and would be much appreciated. Btw, I'm in GA. Also, I'm looking for the one thats fully loaded and lower than 100k miles if there are any. Thank you all and much appreciated in advance. |

Go buy a Honda or Acura, you will get your reliability all day long.
Edit: After two years ownership of the 2010 335i, I am facing $500 fix job. (200+ for tail light bulbs and brackets, 100+for oil sensor cable, 100 for finding out the warning light is on tail light bulbs and brackets) Last edited by Fred_Boosted; 11-19-2015 at 09:34 PM.. |

what i mean by doesn't exist means the luxury brands you named, under 12k, loaded, with under 100k, AND realiable. you cant be picky with that bankroll. not trying to be hateful, but i work in sales and you are my most annoying customer.

if you only have 12k to spend, you need to be looking at a camry, civic, focus. you can find a pretty damn new focus with good options and low miles for the money you have. with only 12k, a luxury brand is the last thing you need.

That's the sole reason of starting a thread with some suggestions and views and don't want to be annoying to anybody. I don't want to be hateful but I don't think a professional salesman would get annoyed with just one request of a customer who is on budget. And above all when it comes to bargain, I'm pretty sure you won't tolerate it at all from what you have posted. Just my view. Anyway thank you for your input which helped me shade some light on luxury car prices.

If you want another BMW, I'd look at a non-turbo model like the 328i, which is basically a rebadged 330i anyway. |

Needing one ASAP isn't going to help finding a deal. If you enjoy manual trannys and can find one that's been on the market for a while, you have a good chance of getting a good deal. I'd say that you could get a 328i for that range.
I had alot of time (>6 mo) to find my car and ended up with an '11 MT 335i w/ 113k miles for under $13k. It was on the local market for 3 months and desperation kicked in. As you are coming from a BMW, I'm assuming you're familiar with what's required to maintain/repair them. |

Has to be something like a honda or toyota. Any luxury car for 12k will need 12k of maintenance when you realized you should of bought something else. Good luck.

The context of ThugzZ BunnY's post was to clearly point out that the same way you were asking the insurance carrier to pay you 12K on your other thread (which of course everyone knew that that wasn't happening except for this guy "shuaige") here you are asking to a buy a luxury car for 12k that is reliable under 100k miles. It would be like me walking into a Ferrari dealer with 40k asking to buy a Ferrari. Heck, if I was selling cars to myself I would be frustrated with me too - trying to buy something I can't afford. Now "shuaige" please, tell the forum what you do for a living since you seem to have a specialty in knocking other people's profession. Are you a doctor? Well, don't prescribe me any medicines then because obviously you are in bed wit the drug company. Are you an attorney? Well, we all know you don't care about my case - all you care about is your 33%. But heck, who I am kidding right. I would bet a $1 that based on "shuaige"s posts and negativity he is probably a lonely and angry 82 year old living on a mountain who just traded in his 99 Camry for his first BMW. So OP, lesson of the day, frustrated and angry people such as "shuaige" you are better off avoiding just like I am about to when I log off this forum for a while. Good luck OP. |

I'm glad you're still sore over getting called out for suggesting that someone just take a first offer. One that subsequently got significantly improved. |

$12k for a luxury car? I wouldn't even bother to get out of bed to look at it. Get a Honda or Toyota, you should be able to get one with low mileage at that price; as opposed to a "pray shit don't go wrong every time I drive" hi mileage luxury car.

Regarding the offer the OP got, the OP was asking for 12K and he got 10.2k. If that is "significantly improved" (almost 2 grand short) I am glad you are not my financial person! But let's call a truce on this and I will really log off for a while now because this is really the reason why I don't frequent forums Gots to go now! |
