Wheel spec question

So I've been meaning to ask this.. Doesn't seem like something covered much... I love been wanting to fit some wide wheels on my E90. I've been eyeing a set of 18x11 +8 offset wheels for the rear and 18x9.5 +10 for front I haven't seen this setup done much which raise the question... they only have this size and honestly can't even see myself buying any other set of wheels.. It's these or stock forever.. Need help n input

Let me guess, you want these to fit without any rubbing, excessive camber or fender work?

The widths will work as that is what I am running, but those offsets are going to require a lot of work. Think stretched tires, rubbing, and plenty of negative camber as well as rolled or shaved fenders. Not a bolt on fitment.

Any wheel will fit. The question you should be asking yourself is are you willing to make it fit?

I don't mind doing work to make them fit but I don't want any excessive work.. Fender pulling and rolled is the furthest I'll go... -4.3* camber is most I'll go

For a 3-series. 8-8.5" width front, 9.5-9.5" back... 225-245 tire front, 255-275 tire rear.

This is about as aggressive as anyone needs to go IMO. Wider than that looks ridiculous on a 3-series commuter car.

It's going to require more work than a simple fender roll/pull, especially the rear. The fitment on your TL looks about as aggressive as the setup on my E90. So figure another 1cm more poke in the front and 1.7cm more poke in the rear.

"Stock forever" I guess. That's going to take a lot of work.

Its actually not a commuter car... Only time i drive it is to the track and to get mods installed lmao.. On my TL those were 18x10.5 and thats a fwd.. You mean to tell me a rwd car of the same size struggles with even those same fitment?... And i could do anything with that fitment, race take a hard enough turn or just commute with 3 passengers

You can't talk fitment without offsets. Those widths you listed are fine if you have the correct offsets and tire sizes. Every car is going to be different, doesn't matter if its FWD or RWD or AWD. Just because its a RWD car doesn't mean you can go wider or lower offset by default.

And if this is a track car, you are going about this completely the wrong way. Stance isn't going to improve your lap times. It'll probably make them worse.

I can tell you right now that none of those wheels had less than a +40 offset. Not sure what point you're trying to get across here.

A 10.5" wide wheel on a 3 series is just plain ridiculous period. 10+" wheels belong on Vipers,ZR-1's,and road track designed exotics, because the chassis were engineered for them.

Actually it is a commuter car. It's a 3 series.

From what I'm reading everyone is saying that a 10" wheel would not fit on a 3 series...the wheel that I'm looking to get is a 19" by 10" wide with a 37 offset. I would like to know what's the widest wheel anyone has run without any modding the fender?

10" wheel most certainly fits, at least in the back anyways - with plenty of room to spare - no rolling necessary. I have 18x10+40 in the back of my car and I have an easy .5" of space between my wheel and fender as well as an inch from the shock on the inside. 11" would go right on here if the offset was right. And considering this is a 3500lb car, there's absolutely no basis for an argument stating this car doesn't need anymore than the OEM 8.5" wheel. Maybe with stock horsepower figures but when these cars are tuned and actually capable of hitting their 194mph mechanical top speed, the 255 tire is actually quite SMALL.

+1

I'm FMIC and e30 only, but traction is non-existent in 1st/2nd gear and slips sometimes hitting peak boost in 3rd on OEM RFTs. It's so bad that I'm now looking to save up for an lsd even though I didn't plan on any other mods.

IMO, the wheels/tires should complement the vehicle's performance first, and look good second.

My mustangs with 500+hp always had 10"+ rears with 295 width drag radials. This car needs the traction just as much it seems.

It's all about the compound. I've built two 750+hp Mustangs. Both on 9.5" rear wheels with 285 DR's.... They hooked like glue...

Lack of driver skill is what kills. That's why americans only drive in straight lines. And somehow they still manage to crash into each other.
