im getting these warning lights when i start the car, even when there's no one in the passenger seat (or even when there is and they have their seat belt on) is this a common issue?

also I cant seem to activate my bluetooth, it doesn't even come up when I go to configure it, any thoughts?

and does anyone know where i can get a replacement for this? ive looked everywhere

There is a recall for the passanger seat sensor

There is a recall for the passanger seat sensor in 06 and o7
for some vin numbers. But this is a problem than can effect
all of the cars that have one. I got mine done under the recall.

http://blog.bavauto.com/15028/bmw-re...e53-13v564000/

also do a search for passenger seat sensor here and on the web.

Did you have bluetooth in the first place .
Do a vin check if the car is new to you.
otherwise it comes from the TCU module in the trunk in the
US system . Europe may be different I know there audio option s are.

That'd be the occupancy sensor mat defect. Is the "passenger airbag off" light turned on in the overhead console? I had to code mine out with ncsexpert since my vin didn't fall under the recall and I wasn't going to pay over $1000 to fix an annoying warning light.

i dont think it's on the overhead console, im away from the car at the minute. i did a quick search before posting and it does seem to be a fairly common problem but I was just looking for a definitive answer, was kinda worried after i had some one sit in the car and the lights were still on. sometimes it goes off when i just plug the seatbelt in. I'm nearly positive the car has bluetooth, how would i get it back working again? I see some guys had success by running a heat gun over the board for a while but that doesnt sound like a permanent fix

You might have the seatbelt sensor error. The OC3 error (for the mat) will also cause the big airbag warning to illuminate on the dash and that's not on in your pic.

yeah see sometimes that comes on as well, is it a matter of a computer reset? there's a guy local who exclusively works on bmws, not offically but my father's been using him for years so I'm guessing he can do a job on it

There's a sensor mat in the passenger seat that detects the passengers weight. Below a certain threshold it will turn off the passenger airbag. This is to prevent an airbag injuring small kids. BMW has had a bit of trouble with those sensors and they are failure prone. It sounds like yours in intermittent. Eventually it will fail completely. At that point the SRS module can't tell for sure if there a passenger in the seat and throws the code. The correct fix is to completely disassemble the seat and replace the mat. The part is crazy expensive. BMW recalled some VINs affected but not all. They have the same issue with Mini's built around the same time.

There's a "hack" to unplug the sensor and disable the feature but you have to use ncsexpert and know a little coding to do this. Not for the faint of heart but it's possible if you know your way around coding vehicles and a little German.
