Driving Roads - Wisconsin/N. Illinois/NE Iowa, SE Minnesota
Any interest in compiling a road thread here? I have done quite a bit of exploring and if there is enough interest would be willing to throw/map out a bunch of routes on here, but won't go through the effort if there are not many takers.

I'm interested. Always looking for good options west of Madison.

In general in Wisconsin, any numbered/lettered highways west of I-94 from Minneapolis to Beloit are solid. Most have average to above average surfaces and rolling topography.
Not sure exactly how to structure this so I will try a few different formats. For Chicago area folks wanting a relatively quick starting point, I would take the fastest route possible to Beloit. Here is a sample route from Beloit sticking to numbered and lettered highways that will take you to arguably 3 of Wisconsin's best small towns, including New Glarus (Brewery) which in general is a fantastic jumping off point for taking drives west. https://goo.gl/maps/jEkb53hMxgwsb9bc7 A sample route west of Madison. I've driven all of these.. https://goo.gl/maps/cg528DVMCwrCxeHW6 Let me know if this kind of stuff is helpful. |

Has anyone gone out for a drive and been pulled over for not adhering to the shutdown? I want to do a bit of a drive one of these days since the roads should be more empty, but I worry about being pulled over and targeted for being in a sportscar especially since there's less traffic now.

They aren't policing transiting. There was even encouragement to get out in state parks etc as long as distancing was followed. Other car friends have gone for drives to get out of the house and everyone now bikes and runs it seems. You'll be fine.
