KW DDC adaptive suspension for M2

German kw blog press release: https://blog-de.kwautomotive.net/jet...rk-fur-bmw-m2/

Translated text:

The BMW M2 is one of the sportiest vehicles in the compact class and, moreover, absolutely honest. What the M2 already offers from the factory with its strong inline six-cylinder turbo, rear-wheel drive and wide track to sportiness in its class is for many performance-oriented customers in the long run but then too sporty in everyday life.

Since there is no option for an adaptive M chassis in the M2 ex factory, as in the BMW M3 and BMW M4, we have developed the electronically controlled KW DDC ECU coilover kit as a retrofit solution.

At the touch of a button, it gives the M2 either more driving comfort or maximum sportiness for the road. In the KW mode "Sport +" give the KW damper the BMW a direct and genuine driving behavior, a setup, ideal for demanding rides on winding roads with many load changes. The M2 drives so even more precise and yawns for a sporty driving style.

In "Sport" mode, the steering precision is also extremely sporty, but the suspension dampens more comfortable; Depending on the road surface, it can also provide better grip - perfect for fast driving on the highway with long curves and transverse joints. On poorly developed country roads, the "Comfort" mode provides much more comfort than the standard chassis

In comfort mode, the KW dampers not only operate with a comfort-oriented identification, but the DDC suspension control unit adjusts the dampers automatically to the respective driving situation. At the touch of a button, the DDC coilover kit changes to different damper settings.

Via app, drivers can even set their own setups via smartphone, regardless of the front and rear axle. The infinitely variable damper setting makes it possible, either from the maximum comfort identification with a very soft damping (displayed in the app with 0%) up to the tautest damper setup (in the app with 100% indicated) the dampers individually on the own claims and To tune preferences.

Depending on the self-programmed setup, the BMW M2 reacts even more comfortably than in the "Comfort" mode or the damping rate works even tighter than in the "Sport +" tuning. Of course, anyone who has found his perfect, personal setup for the BMW can save it. Vehicle specific, the KW DDC App has a safety-relevant control area and for five own votes storage locations are available. The stored damper settings can be shared via e-mail.

As well as the KW Clubsport available for the BMW M2 and the KW Variant 3 coilovers, the KW DDC ECU coilover suspension made of stainless steel is also street legal for the M2. Stepless lowering takes place directly on the stainless steel strut via the dirt-resistant trapezoidal thread.

Within the scope of the parts report, the adjustment range of the level control is 15-40 mm at the front axle and 20-45 mm at the drive axle via the rear axle height adjustment.

From mid-April 2018, the KW DDC ECU coilover kit will be available for the BMW M2. When purchasing and installing with the certified KW dealer, the KW-5-year additional warranty can be applied for.

Any more news on these? Just wondering when iND will expect to get these... If y'all have tried them out, will they make the car more livable as a DD but still be rough when you want it on an open road/track? Also hoping for more of a minor drop rather than a bag...

I really wish there was a way to have it interface with the comfort sport button, I'd rather not have a separate button for it or have to control it on my phone.

I can live with the seperate button, but I wouldn't know where to install it for fast access

Is it a wired button? Do I have to drill anything out?

Can you use camber plates with this suspension?
How does the "Comfort" setting compare to the stock M2 suspension?
How about a recommended anti-sway bar to go along with this suspension?

OK now THIS is something I can get with. Love the look of lowering the car a bit but don't want to need a chiropractic adjustment after every ride nor need to jack my car up and take off the wheels if I need to change something.

Any info on US pricing or installs yet?

I installed kw ddc on my 135i. About 5 years ago.
Absolutely love them. The comfort is softer than stock,[135i] just right for cruising the freeway down to tracks in the states.
Push the button twice to “sport +”and the car becomes really stiff, body roll is way down.
The “sport “ is a little too stiff on the street for me. I am an old guy and like the soft street ride, but I track 6-8 times a year.
I did not get the mobile module. I thought, who the heck am I to tune for the different tracks. Kw set them up for on the Ring so good enough for me.
But for cache’ you can download the app and show the boys that you could adjust them. Everybody goes wow, cool.
I installed them myself with a very handy friend, hoist at his house and all the tools.
Drove it to the alignment shop. It was close to impossible to drive. The alignment shop said how the hell did you drive it here. The toe and camber are so far out, with the new bits.
Oh yes, fogot. At the same time I put in the M3 control arms, and links, that where a straight bolt in on the 135i.
Wiring was quite easy, just follow the instructions exactly.
Put my button low down on the left side of dash, just above the hood release. This way I did not have to get the wires into the centre of the car. I could just peel back the edge of the carpet along the sides. Every corner needs to get to the computer and then the button wired to the computer.
Only mistake is, I tie strapped one corner wire too tight to the body. Suspension moves, oh well.
The wire pulled off the coilover. I was lucky, as enough wire was left that I could solder it back together and seal it. And, Of course adjust the tie downs at the other 3 corners.

I'm really curious to know if anyone tried to rewire the KW proprietary selector so to retrofit the original m3/m4 button instead, that would be super cool.

Same. I haven't gotten the car yet and I'm already figuring out ways to justify these.
