BMW M2 Competition Partial Leak!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Here is the pic I saw. New kidneys look a little big and angular, but maybe we will get used to the new grill design BMW seems to be going for.

More insight from Gatte and Artemis:

2, Grille tapers inward on the top corners.
3, Grille is all black with each kidney having 5 vertical slats.
4, The side slits (Gills) are also all shiny black.
5, The lower portion of the bumper is more angular and looks wider.
6, There are 3 slits at the bottom of the bumper or the chin of the bumper with the outer 2 slits being lesser in width than the center.
7, Front grille does not distinctly separate into 2 kidneys. The center is similar to the new M5 but not an exact replacement.
8, There will be sport seats.
9, Hockenheim silver looks almost like white under bright white lighting and similar to the Audi color 'Suzuka Grey Metallic' from Artemis's post #128 of the Audi R8 V10 Plus. I do not believe there is a blue-ish tinge to it but it could vary based on lighting.
10, The name in the back says M2 Competition and not CS/Cs.
11, There is no CF roof. Well, at least not an unpainted one.
12, There is no power dome,
13, The rear exhaust does seem like it has some sort of a diffuser but the lighting was not good enough to see distinctly.
The whole front appears like it was changed to allow for more air intake.
If you think black lettering/writing on a light blue background/border is good, you will be pleasantly surprised.
The rear still needs some work. Orange might not be so bad after all.

  • kidneys 'stretched' closer towards the headlights;
  • surface below kidneys is now more vertical to allow front PDC mount + added: a crease line starting below the kidneys w(e)aving towards the headlights;
  • a crease line above the fangs now runs through the tow hook flap (instead of above);
  • front PDC (park distance control) (the dot located next to the tow hook cover);
  • if no optical illusion (picture angle): the fangs angle seems pushed more inward towards the air curtains (longer horizontal fangs crease line);
  • headlight washer nozzles still at the same spot (cover is visible if you look closely);
  • air guidance intakes on the chin spoiler (1 out of 3 visible on the leaked picture).
Air guidance intakes on the chin spoiler of the BMW Vision Concept GT6 and BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage:

UPDATE (Jan 26, 2018):
Glimpse of (likely) the reworked M2 kidneys + new M2 chin spoiler with air intakes:

I know the front parking sensors were a known addition and for many buyers a welcome and desired one, but that's a good catch on the missing headlight washer opening.

Aren't they missing on Xenon's anyway and included on the Icon LEDs? Or have I got that the wrong way round?

It looks pretty good IMO. Now ordering one is going to be PIA though in terms of finding a dealer with not many people on the waitlist and not asking over MSRP. My lease will end next June. Do you guys think I can get an M2 Competition before next June if I start my search now or is it kinda late? When the original M2 was coming out, I put my name down almost a year in advance and I still wasn't the first on any waitlist (someone gave me their #1 spot later on but it's a different story ).

Do you guys think, that the new M Mirrors of the M2 CS could be installable at the F87 M2 without bigger problems (from the technical aspect)?

I am betting no but I don't really have any evidence. Just seems like it's a brand new design so it's unlikely to be plug and play, but maybe we'll get lucky!

Idunno... Im not buying in on the idea that bmw spent more money just to make a front end slightly slightly different for a car that is niche and in low production. The picture quality is horrible and could have been taken with a cheap camera with a weird fish eye lens. Or even one of those "secret spy pens" with a camera taken at a weird angle.

If bmw did in fact change it up, then I'm anxious to see the end result.

The ///M style mirror however.... I really hope they came through with that.

Looks to me like there's a front parking sensor to the right of the tow hook cover...

I think it's legit.

Look at the tow hook cover. The body crease runs into it compared to before. A distorted camera won't change that.

What the... a second LCI? Very rare to see significant body changes such as this. Perplexing. We should theoretically see 2 series mules driving around with so many significant frond end changes. Photoshop?
