Monticello Motor Club's BMW M2 Racing School Is the Ivy League of Driver Training
Did you know that Monticello Motor Club has an BMW M2 Racing School?
Full article: http://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/...river-training Monticello Motor Club's BMW M2 Racing School Is the Ivy League of Driver Training What could be better than a BMW M2? Try an M2 with its back seats ripped out, a roll cage and performance mods added in, and a crew of racing pros to instruct you in the ways of speed. The M2 is one of our favorite attainable cars, and likely the best pure driver’s car in BMW’s current portfolio. It’s smaller, more engaging and attainable (at about $55,000 to start) than any other high-performance M model, including the M3, M4, M5, and M6. Now, you can test that theory for yourself: The can-do coupe is the star of the new BMW M2 Racing School at Monticello Motor Club (a.k.a. MMC) in New York. Students also feel like stars after spending a few days in the BMW, because this race academy adds twists I’ve never experienced—not at manufacturer-sponsored schools, not at Bob Bondurant, not even at Skip Barber’s advanced programs that qualify students for precious SCCA racing licenses. (More on that in a sec.) This is a full immersion in door-to-door competition and racing strategy, and not the usual too-brief taste. If that sounds like crazy fun, it is... read the rest @ http://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/...river-training

I been to Monticello for the M Track Days back in May. Didn't get to use the whole track but it was a lot of fun. The cost though is too rich for my blood. The facilities there is really modern. So you wouldn't be just paying the event.

Based on the cost of "arrive and drive" seat rentals for WRL events around here, the same money would get you 10 race weekends in a Miata, or 4 weekends in a well-prepped Boxster. Figure 6-8 hours of actual seat time, per event.

I got an invitation for but they didn't even list the price. They are out of their minds. I like the track, but two days at bmw or Porsche's own schools are MUCH cheaper.
The three-day BMW M2 Racing School costs $8,900, with two days for $5,700 and a one-day intro for $3,500. |

BMWCCA has a two day race school for a cost of about $500. Plus you get to use your car. You'll need to be an approved advanced HPDE student, but quite frankly you'll want to have a bunch of regular track days under your belt anyway before you attempt to do this school. I did it and it was a great experience. You also get set up for an amateur racing license if you successfully complete the course.

A simular article came out in Roundel last issue. The M2's have springs only using stock dampers. I spoke with Heinlein racing who configured and built the cars. They recommended H&R if not going full coil over. Here was the thread.....

$8900, chicken feed. Another Omega....big deal....
oh but wait braces for the kids....dam (oh, that's all paid for x 3) eye surgery in January......ouch....(wait, prepaid also) new stove....F)(*^&()&(* Cancelled..... SOB, RS6 needs more fixing...but should not be too much... Christmas shopping, surely that will kill the budget. No wait, finished and wrapped. Plan summer vacation....that will do it. Kid in college...... Alas, no Racing School for me! I have been there. They have a very nice setup. Drove RS5, R8v10,S7,S6 on that track. I'd love to spend three days in that driving school. Maybe next year. Mike
