Wow - Pretty neat. They are all called "M2 - Competition (USA)". And they all have model year "K" in the VIN (= 2019). And one of those (a BSM) has orange stitching leather.

If you go one more - VB08883 - you get one in Hockenheim Silver - with a production date of 0001-01-01 (which I would guess means "in production"). Power = 302. Upholstery = "Led.dak.des.perf.schwarz/blau - MDB2", which is different than the current M2's "Leder Dakota/schwarz Kontr.blau - LCNL"

8882 has a production date of 9/21/2017.

Let the speculation and further sleuthing begin!

Well, it's at least a confirmation that BMW M is testing also 6MT and "M Sports Seat" (option code 712) inside an M2 car with S55 engine. No guarantee that it will make it to production, but reasonably quite likely.

If the seats inside the M4 CS got option code 712 (I don't know) and if the M4 CS is supposed to show the way for the M2 CS:

Could the sportseats actually be standard since a lot of the options that we see on the options list are indeed standard ??

Nice but I was hoping they would have stripped a lot of weight out of the car. Maybe the CSL if it gets made is the car I?m looking for.

Why do they call it the "M2 Competition - USA"?

Is it going to be a US only model?

Or is it going to be called the M2 CSL for the rest of the world?

Or, none of the above?

Pretty sure 2NH is not the code for ceramic brakes.

Ceramic b rakes are 2NK.

The prospect of a manual F87 with S55 and F80/2 CS goodies, makes me a happy man.

M sport brakes is a term used on a 340i, etc. I know the M2 already has steel/drilled oversized rotors...so maybe it's even bigger M5 rotors!!! Time will tell.

I'm guessing US vs Euro CS spec will differ slightly when coming off the production line? But I believe the CS and CSL are different...
CS = Competition
CSL = "GTS"

I would assume the option to upgrade to 6 piston carbon ceramic brakes (the gold calipers).

  • 2U71 = M2 Competition - EUR spec Lefthand Drive
  • 2U72 = M2 Competition - EUR spec Righthand Drive
  • 2U73 = M2 Competition - USA spec
So this car is gonna be available worldwide.

The leaked VINs refer to USA spec only.
