Great article. The car really does make you want to go out for a drive and find some bends.

Picked mine up today, agree with most of what he said!

She's waiting for me in my garage, almost went through half a tank of gas today in a short period of time.

Thanks! Haha it sure was, I'll be taking it out for a spin as long as there isn't salt on the roads. Very intoxicating exhaust sound and very difficult not to push it even though it's in break in stage.

Honestly the stock exhaust is perfect sound for me, it's not to loud and not quiet either. There is no way I would even think about putting mpe or other aftermarket exhausts, and I haven't even put into sport plus yet.

Only curious as to the way it sounds outside the car as its driving by.

Stock is pretty loud to begin with and decent enough. With MPE it can be a monster. Not as crazy as some exhausts out there but still very loud. Sounds pretty race car-ish especially driving next to a wall.

It is loud and there is some drone at around 3100 rpm. Definitely the car is not a car where you can be an audiophile in. The exhaust is that loud.

100% correct! In comfort mode; the M2 is even a bit to loud for my daily use... I see zero reason why I would ever want to fit a louder exhaust (then OEM with sport +) on the M2... Besides more noise from an aftermarket exhaust the gain in how the cars drives is zero! When driving out of town or on a track the sport (and sport +) exhaust note are loud enough for me and already realy cool!

Absolutely. Stock exhaust is loud when on the throttle. I haven't driven with the windows down yet but imagine that drives up the sound level even more.

Picked up my baby M in late July and I've already put 12k km on it.

This car is so fun to drive and I honestly never get tire of it. I take it to the track, backroads and city commute. The only time that I'd want to drive my M6 is going on the highway and driving for more than 100km... where the M6 is more comfortable.

I know the feeling. I have had mine since middle of november, and it has 8700 km on the clock, or about 5500 miles. It is a car u want to drive.

Not that I needed another reason to look forward to June 20th, but this definitely didn't make the wait any easier.
Cheers to all fellow M2 owners-to-be and current owners.

Agree that the stock exhaust is just fine. No aftermarket noisemakers needed.

Slightly off-topic: the ASD system really annoys me. It's just slightly too loud and shrill anywhere above 2000 rpm. That alone is reason enough to spend a few bucks on the TechnicPnP bypass harness. I already know it's a sporty car. Adding extra sound pressure inside the cabin won't make it a sportier car. It's almost as if BMW created the ASD system just to give the car more "test drive appeal" at the expense of long-term livability.

But my big problem with ASD is that it creates an unnatural and unpleasant "fake echo" with the window down. The real exhaust sound is audible through the open window and it is slightly out of sync with the ASD sound in the cabin. It sounds like I'm driving through a narrow tunnel with plenty of reverberation. Even when I'm driving on an open road. This is extremely annoying to me, and I do drive with the window down a lot.

I ordered the TechnicPnP ASD bypass harness and it should be arriving today.
Can't wait to install it.

It's cheaper to buy a Vgate iCar2 and the Bimmercode app for iOS to get rid of ASD.
