Thanks for sharing.

He said he'd give us 5 reasons to buy the MPE or why it's worth the money...he only gave us 4(valid ones!)

@3:40 I have the trembling cold start too...

Cheers

Good review. Sound captures what it is IRL, although I'm usually listening from the inside with windows rolled down.

Robin when you get that trembling cold start does it shake the car ever so slightly for about a second or two?

The car doesn't actually shake, it's the trembling noise like something is loose at the back of the car/exhaust. It only takes a few seconds.

Cheers

Hmm my car has a slight rough start where the actual car shakes ever slightly for a second and then smooths right out, the dealer told me its normal!

Thanks! I liked the initial video you made reviewing the car itself, this video is helpful and I agree on many points. This helps the person on the fence, thanks for putting this together

Same here: some vibrational buzzing of the MPE for a few moments during cold start. Normal.

Most important reason why I still have not decided a MPE buy is the noise level inside. I am waiting for the opportunity to experience.

@01'03": good that it's pointed out that the M2 MPE is not just the axle-back exhaust, but also includes the midpipe + Bluetooth remote control to operate the butterfly valves. Some might think that the M2 MPE is just an axle-back exhaust.

@02'30": just do know that the M2 MPE tips have not been conceived for the M2 - BMW simply recycled the M3/M4 MPE tips (so these were around already); and frankly, I don't mind, because the tips are indeed pretty neat (well, they better be for their price):
  • part # 18 30 2 358 111 = titanium exhaust tips [F80 M3 | F82 M4]
  • part # 18 30 2 358 110 = CF exhaust tips [F80 M3 | F82 M4]
Arranged that my aural pleasure provider was installed when taking delivery last April. Zero regrets.

I agree totally, but it must stay comfortable cruising on the motorway. My wife is not a great supporter of even more noise... Wifes....

I should have pointed this out for the married ones watching, myself included. In comfort mode, with valve closed it is very tame and close to stock. My wife did not even notice the difference. Every other mode she hates LOL.

I toyed with all options at different rpm levels to compare the noises inside the car. It turns out that, with cruise control set and active at 130 km/h (± 81 mph), the softly droning noise inside the car generated by the M Performance Exhaust, is a very subtle degree less present/obvious in SPORT than in COMFORT (yeah, you would expect it the other way around).

Speak a little louder or pump up the volume of the music.

Interesting. I wonder if this is because in sport mode it's holding a higher rpm?

Just try it. Cruise control set at 130 km/h (± 81 mph). Don't touch anything, except for toggling between the COMFORT and SPORT buttons. Same sound but an itsy bitsy less prominent in the SPORT setting.
