Sounds is totally subjective and based on ones opinion...

Except here where it's clearly obvious the M2 sounds better.

Big single mid pipe makes S55 sound proper. That is the magic to the M2 sound I believe.

On the N55, the six exhaust pulses of the cylinders are combined right at the turbo while the S55 twin turbos combine 3 cylinders each followed by separate dual exhausts routings all the way to the tips; this mainly explains why they sound different.

Driveaway = M2
Stationary rev. battle = M4 (Sounds very "open"), which no one gives 2 cents about.

M2 over M4.

I don't care much about exhaust sound. In fact, i prefer quieter, tesla p90d is my favourite. Quiet but fast

Single turbo that combines the six exhaust pulses of the cylinders vs twin turbos that combine 3 cylinders each followed by separate dual exhausts routings all the way to the tips mainly explains why they sound different.
Someone should make this a sticky every time someone says "M4 sounds like shit blah blah blah M2 reigns supreme blah blah".

Thanks for the post, brother. swagon

M2 sounds like high performance road car
M4 sounds like a race car.

That literally makes zero sense; the N54 sounded very similar if not the same as my N55 with the same catback exhaust setup.

I don't understand why people get so butthurt & try to make excuses about the sound the S55 produces. Comparatively, it sounds terrible, there's literally no way around that.

honestly they both sound amazing. m performance exhaust has come a long way since the s65, but it's not really a surprise because for the n54/55 the performance exhaust was always a top option at least imo.

m4 gets opened up a lot with the exhaust. i've heard it in person and damn. it's perfect at idle and subtle drive bys. m2 surprisingly sounds a little "constricted". still sounds great and even stock sounds amazing. something f8x wasn't able to accomplish.

now i'm curious to see what aftermarket companies will make the m2 sound like. eisenmann....where are you...
