First generation BMW M2 production: 2015-2020

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
According to bmwarchiv.de (BMW Model Archive) the first gen F87 BMW M2 production is planned from 2015 through 2020:This detailed website normally gets its info straight from the horse's mouth.

Sounds to make sense, given the non-confirmed rumors of an M2 Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) around Summer 2018 (apart from possible M2 variants in the future).

Well that's a pretty long life cycle, longer than some expected, right?

Those are actual calendar dates which could easily translate into MY17, MY18 and MY19
So not as long as it would seem

Forum member ynguldyn posted this production schedule for the M2.All of the info he has posted about the M2 and other BMW future models seems to be correct. He confirmed that the M2 will be in production up until the 2018 model year, but maybe he doesn't have the info for the model years after that.

Garage List
2016 BMW M2  [0.00]
Normal BMW life span is 7 years, the F22 came out end of 2013 so 2020 would be normal with an LCI somewhere in the middle.

F22 = 2014 through 2021 (http://www.bmwarchive.org/e-code/f22.html)

Hmm interesting, longer than we thought then? LCI and a CSL variant have more potential now.

Good availability, lower likelihood of dealer markup, higher depreciation than the 1M.

I don't understand why this comes as such a surprise to some. The whole 1M low production thing was unique. It always makes me laugh seeing how eager many are to be the first to have a new model and then 2-3 years later wish they had the LCI version. Of all the models BMW (or any car manufacturer for that matter) have released, when does the first model year ever end up being the most desirable year?

Well... does it makes the M2 less attractive? It does in my case, but I will keep my deposit until we get more details...

There is always something new. I think it's ridiculous to wait. You'll just continue chasing your tail. Is it annoying that there is an M240I announced just after picking up my M235I, sure. Is it really going to affect my life that much? Not really. Go out and buy what you want. Or just lease it so you can get the new one later.

Mentioned so many times in multiple threads.

The M2 will not be like the 1M and it will depreciate more than the 1M.
It will not be limited to one year production.
The only limitation is the production which I believe BMW will make as many as they can.

If you want to be the first to get it. be ready to pay MSRP or higher like any other new M car on the market.

If you're not in a hurry, wait a year or two, you will eventually get one just need to be patient.
