Glad to see that some of the old "Technology Package" and "Premium Package" features are standard now.
And the HK audio system and alarm too.

Extra equipment as standard adds cost, but it also streamlines ordering and manufacturing.
So BMW can't nickel-and-dime us (as much) for multiple "packages", but it saves BMW time at dealerships and in Leipzig.
And time is money. Interesting.

heated steering wheels is probably the most underrated item from the exec. option

it's gonna be tough deciding between an LCI M2 or a used 911 thats for sure

I will add that at this price I don't think I would do ED, it's not worth the wait to get the car back to the west coast

You can't even compare the S3 to this beast. S3 compares to the M235i. Audi should be releasing the RS3 later this year and that you can compare to the M2. RS3 should be in the same price range as the M2. The RS3 will be another beast with 5 cylinders. But I'm all about rear wheel drive for handling and believe the M2 will still come out ahead.
I'm quite pleased with the pricing as I'm hoping the RS3 will be in line. I need awd this time around, drove the RS3 last month it was pretty awesome. If the pricing on the Audi is crazy will do the M2 instead and suffer through the winter and hill up to my house.

The executive package is a waste really. It should come with the back up camera standard.

Also compare it to an M3, to get leather you need to get exec package which i think was around $3k, i know not the same leather, but you get leather std. Also get the same 19" wheels std which cost $1200 extra for the M3/4. You also get enhanced usb/bluetooth std which cost around $500 extra on the M3/4. Compared M2 pricing to a 2015 M3/4 where HK speakers were an extra $900 which again, you get std. For them exec pack was around $3500 and needed to get it to get comfort access, which once again you get std.

If you're bitching about $1250 for a package of useful options that gets you the fully loaded car, you can't afford this car.
Wow. So disrespectful. Not that it matters, but I "can afford this car" and then some. I live in FL. I don't need a heated steering wheel and I don't want the other items in the package. I am not "bitching". I simply don't want to pay for something that I am not going to use. Have a great night.

Yup. It's a €1K option over here (Belgium). €800 in Germany.

Some US test mules got it spec'ed too, by the way.

Why does all of this seem hard to believe?

There is not a single standalone option?

I'd like one in each color please.

Times 2 (w/ DCT and w/o DCT)

And then times 2 again (w/ package and w/o)

For a total of 16 F87 M2s.

Oh, and I'd like to win the Powerball tomorrow.

I would take a stripper in a second but this config will be a pig. I think this is intentional ... for now.

The exec is better deal in the M2 than the M3/4 if you're looking for just the backup camera. On the M3/4 you'd have to pay $3,200 to get the leather and backup camera.

Overall this seems like a good price for the M2 but would have liked to have seen the better leather, mirrors, and CF roof but at this price point, I don't think you could complain.

And although it will lease poorly on Day 1, I imagine the same was true for the M3/4. If they make the M2 available in enough quantity where you can start getting $$ off of MSRP (say months or a year from now), this will be a relatively inexpensive lease.

It seems that, as regards the M2, BMW is adopting the Hobson's Choice approach: a free choice in which only one option is offered. As a person may refuse to take that option, the choice is therefore between taking the option or not - "take it or leave it".
"The phrase [« you will have this or none »] is said to originate with Thomas Hobson (1544–1631), a livery stable owner in Cambridge, England, who offered customers the choice of either taking the horse in his stall nearest the door or taking none at all. Hobson had an extensive stable of some 40 horses. This gave the appearance to his customers that, upon entry, that customer would have his or her choice of mounts, when in fact there was only one: Hobson required his customers to choose the horse in the stall closest to the door. This was to prevent the best horses from always being chosen, which would have caused those horses to become overused."

The 18 inch wheels on the test mules in Europe right now are just for the snow tires. They won't be offered from the factory on the M2.They will probably be part of a winter tire package.

The pricing info is correct. The MSRP in Canada for the M2 is $61,000 and the car comes fully loaded except the DCT.It looks like BMWNA is also offering everything as standard in the US except the Executive Package and DCT.The sunroof is also not available in the US,just like Canada, where in Europe people are able to order it.The price is a great deal in the US and Canada.

Love it. Offering less is valued more anyway.

It is the easiest way to sell a low production car.

The fact that BMW added M-DCT says they listened.

Did anyone else notice the start of production is 11/15? I wonder since there is only 1 package option, colors, and DCT if they've been starting to pump out the most popular combination knowing they will sell right away?

Seems they'll go the Porsche route now and charge us an extra $10k to leave stuff off and save weight!
