It seems the drive logic is there. But I mean if it wasn't, not sure I would agree. Cost for the hardware, ok. But if I buy a copy of Windows, I'm not paying $100 for the physical dvd. The cost of the M3 transmission includes programming, which has tangible costs in man hours to develop and the hardware itself that the software resides on. If they had not been including that hardware/software combo for the drive logic, then I don't think they should charge as much.

But leasing is still an option. It would be 1000 a month with 6k due at signing for a fully loaded M2. Where as leasing is 850 a month with 0 due at signing. So leasing it over 36 months would be 30k where as buying would be 42,000. You might have some equity but this for sure won't hold its value like the 1M. You would need to have positive equity of $12,000 to be on par with a lease over 36 month. So if the end goal is to keep it for longer than 36 months, then yea buy. But if you won't keep it any longer than that, just lease it. Either way it will be an expensive car.

All these cars are hard to justify. But I take pleasure driving from A to B. That's the only justification I need.

I'm very pleased with the numbers! The price and options are on point!
But it will lease terribly so I won't be able to get into one until late 2017 as I would purchase it or maybe it'll lease better. By that time, I'll probably want a 911 instead anyway. :O

Also compare it to an M3, to get leather you need to get exec package which i think was around $3k, i know not the same leather, but you get leather std. Also get the same 19" wheels std which cost $1200 extra for the M3/4. You also get enhanced usb/bluetooth std which cost around $500 extra on the M3/4. Compared M2 pricing to a 2015 M3/4 where HK speakers were an extra $900 which again, you get std. For them exec pack was around $3500 and needed to get it to get comfort access, which once again you get std. If you're bitching about $1250 for a package of useful options that gets you the fully loaded car, you can't afford this car. |

Wow, that's cheap. I'm surprised it doesn't have more options though (like parking assistant, like the M235i has).
"Loaded", it comes in at almost $10k less than my CLA45 AMG from almost two years ago. Sweet.

Wait, wait, wait... I'm having a hard time believing this stuff comes standard. What about the 18" wheels on all the test mules? Alarm, CA included? Even floor mats! Smartphone Integration and top speed limiter? C'mon, really? I wish it came with all of this, but I'll reserve judgement until I officially see something from BMW.
