Mhd + xhp = perfect
I've been in the pursuit of a healthy tune for the M2 and I found that MHD's tune is much smoother and sounds better than BM3.
Combining it with xhp stage 2 setting the torque reduction to 600 and turning on the "use stock shift maps" makes it shift like a pdk . The combo works very well.

Yup, I'm on stage 2 +. I've gone back and forth for a while and I've concluded that MHD is better at least for the f87.

You guys have any dyno charts or 100-200 times?
I've been pretty happy with 442whp & 507wftlbs on the BM3 Stg 2+ E30 OTS map and the THOR DCT tune, but always curious to see data from other tunes. |

I did do some logs which showed MHD runs more boost and less aggressive timing which supports the notion that it may have a stronger low/mid-range than the bm3 OTS equivalent. Although load based, my car peaked at 17.6psi @ 14 degree Celsius ambients on the MHD map. BM3 peaked at 16.1psi. For reference I am running 91 Octane maps due to the sub-optimal fuel quality we have in Aus. |

With my 300-cell HJS DP and Arkapovic cat back I had to turn my burble aggression all the way down to zero in BM3 to keep the really loud cracks from happening on throttle lift & shift, but there's still enough burbling & cracking to sound pretty sweet. |

When I was 2+ MHD the sounds the car made were wide open smiles type.
Quick question if I am tuned again with MHD and go up significant elevation say a mountain road, the car knows that right and doesn't try to make sea level power and frag the block?! |

My warranty is out in December, and I fully intend on getting an ER intercooler and charge pipe in order to go Stage 2. However, I've always thought that Bootmod3 was the leader in tuning for these cars, not MHD. While reading about this flash on their website, I noticed the reference to the JB4, which I thought was old news for the F87, and no one used it anymore. Can someone enlighten me on the JB4/MHD connection? Looks like the price is 499 euro, or $591 USD, which is similar to BM3.

MHD is based on load based tuning so I assume the car would adjust accordingly

To me not a single local custom tuned car or MHD OTS car has outrun my simple OTS setup on BM3. I am FBO so talking FBO cars. In fact custom tuning it I’m only willing to do to learn for myself and not to go any quicker than now.

A custom tune for outright power/performance is pointless while running the oem hpfp IMO. The ots maps are already pushing the limits of the oem hpfp.
Once you add an upgraded hpfp you can make more than the stage 2+ ots maps from Bm3 but again they are very good. On stage 2 93 Bm3 I’ve ran 8.7s 100-200. E30 Stage 2+ I’ve ran 7.9s 100-200 but that was in warmer conditions compared to the stage 2 93 runs. Last edited by Daleb; 09-11-2021 at 11:01 AM.. |

Thanks! I still go between the Remus & Akrapovic as my fav exhaust sounds for the M2. Maybe one day I’ll get to hear them side by side.
It sounds silly, but my favorite feature of the Akra is how livable it is. Super quiet in Comfort mode and less highway drone than stock. I didn’t change exhaust for a long time bc I was worried about both things, so these were nice surprises. Although, back to your original point about BM3 and MHD burbles, BM3 burbles set to OEM is way to aggressive for my setup, and I have to run Custom with them practically turned all the way off to keep the super loud cracks from happening: |
