As a current owner of a new M240i I think the M2 "comp" is probably the way to go. The lack of a manual gearbox really bugs me still. This car is fast 0-60 but it lacks the directness of the older cars. The M2 really appears to be the best of the old M generation cars that make sense. M3/M4 has gotten bigger and heavy lately but they are still fast cars. The M2 had perfect dimensions and size to make it a great looking car. I originally tried to order a spec M2 comp in LBB back around early June and I missed the window. I considered getting a used one but with my luck on bmw cars with no warranty of limited warranty coverage I would probably regret it. I went with a sensible choice but I think the M2, comp and CS are some of the greatest cars BMW made in quite some time. The E92 M3 was a good car as well with the NA V8 engine. can't go wrong there.
