Carfection: Manuals Matter: Porsche 911 GT3

Came across this video on the Carfection channel; appears to have been posted just a few days ago. Watching it reminded me of another GT3 MT-related article (read here) where the author pointed out that Porsche claims two-third second-gen GT3s have been ordered with the MT. Made me smile!

Anyway, enjoy the vid:

Watching someone row through the gears in a RHD car always plays tricks with my mind. The whole time he was talking about his favorite shifts, I couldn't stop thinking "money shift".

Porsche’s 911 Speedster Concept boasts more than 500 horsepower

Production-ready open-roof model to celebrate the brand's 70th anniversary

I could be wrong but that looks like a stick to me....

NICHOLAS MARONESE | 1 DAY AGO

http://driving.ca/porsche/911/auto-n...500-horsepower

Porsche took the wraps off of a production-looking 911 Speedster Concept early June, an open-top version of its iconic sports car it built to celebrate its 70th anniversary.

The car boasts a flat-six delivering more than 500 horsepower and a “pure driving experience” is the focus, the German automaker said.

Aesthetically, the windshield has been lowered and raked back, and a carbon-fibre rear cover with two “humps” behind the seat headrests has been added. Black slats hang between the twin elements, as does a Plexiglas wind deflector with a 70th anniversary logo engraved in it.

Inside, the navigation, radio and air conditioning have been removed and the carbon full bucket seats trimmed in light brown aniline leather.

The chassis of the 911 Speedster Concept is essentially pure 911 GT3, and the transmission is a six-speed manual. The car is completed by a silver-and-white racecar-inspired paint job; ’50s-style centrally mounted fuel cap; and bullet-shaped rearview mirrors on the doors.

Porsche is mulling over whether or not to put the Speedster into production in 2019, with a final decision to be made in the coming months.

OUTSTANDING VIDEO, I couldn't have said it better. For the life of me I don't know why anyone wants a flappy paddle, they have zero appeal to me. I know they shift quicker but for the love of all things holy, you're driving a "SPORTS CAR", rowing the gears is part of engaging in the drive.

whats your favorite gear on a paddle shift? great question and great video.

One of the joys of life is slow poke down an exit ramp as always a semi or mini van is on the ramp too. stay off the gas in 2nd gear at the bottom push the rpm's slowly up to 5500, right lane clears slowly shift into 3rd and floor it just right and shoot like a rocket.

Make sure it comes with drum brakes, manual windows and non-power steering also!
