Automatically roll windows down several inches?

Hi guys-

I've come out to my car in the morning 3-4 times with both windows rolled down several inches. once after a night with some rain

Is there some button I'm inadvertently pressing to cause this? I'm absolutely capable of forgetting to roll up my windows occasionally but on at least one occasion I know for a fact I did not leave them down. I really want to get to the bottom of this.

TIA for any ideas.

Just a couple inches? (that's what she said!)

I'm definitely not holding the unlock button on the remote. Is there any convenience feature that would trigger that, like to ventilate? I do occasionally try to lock or unlock my car via the connected app, but it never works because I live in a valley with bad cell reception. Would be odd/unexpected behavior though....

It’s a feature you can activate in your idrive, I believed is called comfort open or something like that.

If you double click the open button on your key it will roll the window down for easier access when you open the door... although that should only do the driver side?

Ps: any action you can do via the connected app doesn’t affect the window, only locking mechanism/air con/lights/horn

Couldn't find it in iDrive, but was able to roll down the windows by pressing and holding the unlock button. Good to know. I still think I didn't do that but I guess anything's possible.

Thanks guys for the input.

You can code this behavior out. I immediately but a cover for my key fob and coded out the feature because I had a similar experience as you on my second week of ownership.... I was not pleased.

It should be under:

My vehicle / Vehicle settings / Doors-key / Comfort open

check that the box is un-ticked

Do you have cats/dogs? My cat has more then once comfortably rested on the fob and caused mine to roll down (although it was in the garage so not that big a deal).

It's is so handy in tight parking spaces though. Love this on BMW coupes where'd the doors are big at time.

I'm assuming this isn't the same thing as when it lowers the windows about half an inch (temporarily) when you open and close the doors? Considering that's not 'several inches' (and they go back up in that case)...

Nope definitely not. 2-3 inches and they stay down. I keep forgetting to check the iDrive path posted above but I'll disable this feature on the remote if I can that way. Otherwise I'll figure out with esys or bimmercode.

Ok - that's what I figured but just wanted to be sure; wondering if the iDrive setting above refers to your issue or the half-inch drop thing when opening and closing the doors.

My gf has the exact same issue with her Honda, tho we've never figured it out (she swears she didn't touch the remote).

I am experiencing the situation where my car is parked and I come back to have both windows down 2-3 inches. The car is locked.
There is no "comfort settings" in my iDrive under doors/key, etc. I do not have the executive package.
Yes, I can lower windows by holding the unlock button. That's cool.
But I don't fondle the keys in my pocket LOL.

So???

BTW, holding the unlock button besides lowering the windows will likely also open the sunroof (not available for pre-LCI in U.S.) as it does in my 3-series if you keep holding it down after the windows lower.

Yeah just had this happen a few days ago when my car was parked way too far away for the remote to work. Seems fishy that lots of people are experiencing this.

OK, I figured it out. If you press the unlock button on the remote multiple times, it drops the window about an inch each time. Press it twice or three times, and it goes down 2-3". I think the first click simply unlock, then you get into an inch per press after that. If you press and hold, it goes all the way down (as mentioned earlier in this thread). Pressing and holding the lock button when the windows are open will roll up the windows and lock the car.

So what it boils down to is I think I press the button multiple times when the mood strikes. Need to pay more attention and not do that when it's raining. TBH, the times I discovered it in the rain it was probably just done seconds before I went out to the car...if it's raining I want to make sure my car is unlocked when I get there so multiple clicks

So it goes. At least I know now.

I coded this out BECAUSE of the risk of rain.....

I hate this feature.

Also works, just a longer path to the exact same destination. Might as well do it in easy mode.
