DIY Must have cosmetic mods for new owner
Hello all, I am getting my 2018 LBB M2 very soon and have been reading this forum with anticipation and excitement. I would like to do some tasteful modifications to my car and was wondering which ones you would recommend, DIY is deal.
Definitely want: new black grills (so many options here, I love carbon fiber, but are they worth the price? I definitely want black, but do I want them with the colored slats, will that look too busy with the M2 logo on top?) red start button (my girlfriend's Acura has this, and I am jealous) Bimmercode app (already downloaded and checked out the demo) Carbon Fiber mirrors (so many options here again, are the OEM ones that much better to justify cost?) Any other recommendations? |

@UltraMagneticAL that's and the side ones are definitely on the list. Seems like the install isn't easy but not too tough. I am debating getting the painted ones to match the car color for front and back, or just front and get the style you got for back...so many choices!

Must-haves would be front black grills and cf spoiler, think these two enhance the car the most. Other cosmetic mods are nice-to-have, but I don't think they transform the car (although I did most of them anyway ) LBB works really well with carbon fiber bits, so they'll all look nice

CF kidney grilles I am not so sure about. I really wanted to like them but I couldn't find any pictures that convinced me they would work on LBB. In the pictures I saw they seemed to make the grill area too busy, but I have never seen it in person.

This is a tough question, as cosmetic stuff is pretty personal.
That being said, it seems EVERYONElikes the red start buttons. Cheap, too. In my opinion, once you start down the black road on the outside, it doesn’t look super cool unless you go all the way: no silver. You’ll be chasing a lot of shiny bits if you feel the same. Some even black the exhaust tips. On the inside, I did the M Sport cf center console trim along with the steering wheel trim. I think it really finishes off the interior, getting rid of some of the plasticness. A part I haven’t figured yet is the rear diffuser. I think the stock reeks of cheap plastic. The full CF ones seem too busy to me. I’m thinking maybe wrapping the stock with CF vinyl or spraying it gloss black to match the window trim. Someone on the forum did the latter and it’s pretty sharp. So I’m sure you’ll get many ideas, but you have to figure YOUR must haves. Good luck. It’ll be fun.

One of my favorite cosmetic mods is the MP CF diffuser. Also the chrome Philips indicator bulbs was a nice cheap mod that made the headlights look clean.

Thanks for both your replies. Looking forward to seeing your pics m2ruder (cool name).
Ultra great looking car. Must sound amazing with the Titanium exhaust. Which is more fun to drive; i8 or M2? I like the splitter but wondering how much trouble it is to keep from rubbing? |
