curious to hear more about people with MPE and LCI..

i have a 2016 but have the newest DME update and i just got the MPE installed this week... i DONT HAVE ANY pops or bangs, i tried reving to 4500-4800 in 2nd gear and letting off and get nothing, i was previously having issues with my car so i am not sure if the no pops are due to past issues or is it just the new programming? i do hear some burbles at times but it is barely noticable

can someone with MPE and LCI please confirm that they are getting pops? thanks

I have an LCI with no MPE, just stock exhaust, and it pops and bangs like crazy. Traction mode is obnoxious (in a good way) and sport+ has some great bangs.

I have an LCI. Stock exhaust had many pops and crackles.
Added a catless DP and they have been magnified perfectly. Sounds amazing!

I have a 16 and it sounded great, then I took it in for a software update and now they are almost gone. Pisses me off. My car used to sound great now not so much. I have a HFC and res delete with stock muffler.

this is what i think happened to mine too, i had an issue with my car, my exhaust flaps were not functioning properly, instead of actually physically inspecting the car they decided to update the software, they called it "DME update" i later replaced my exhaust with the MPE car is running normal but there are no pops and bangs...i feel like the update was some kind of tune that smoothed out the car but got rid of these nice sounds, i wonder if its possible there are more than one type of update and we both got this one maybe there is a way we can restore it to the original version?

my initial thought was that my stock cat was messed up, but i see you have a high flow cat so i am 95% certain the issue is engine management related

anyone else in this boat? wait until the car is warmed up ...rev to 4K in second gear and let off...if you hear a muffled choke sound welcome to the club

your update ends in 507 so it might be newer then the person below whose update ends in 504, its possible in yours and my update that these sounds were removed for whatever reason, i wonder if you can go to your dealer and request specific update number 504? thats assuming that person still has their "pops and bangs"
http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...7&postcount=28

btw how do i tell what version i have?

if indeed these updates do what i think soon there will be lots of people affected

Yeah, he is actually one of the people who helped my dealer diagnose my Drivetrain Malfunction with his update, so yeah I guess mine is newer.

Ooof, that's the one to avoid then. I'm On F020-17-07-504. Did you make sure car is warm, and you wait to drive a bit regularly before switching onto sport or sport+? Note that if the IAT's or EGT's are too high the car won't burble as much.

I have stock on my M2 LCI and its loud, plenty of pops and gargles, still has a nice tone when in comfort mode, put on sport and really comes alive. I test drove car with M-Performance exhaust, naturally illegal to use here on roads here in the UK. When i fire it up on the morning my missus can hear the car from the underground garage and can hear me when I pull in as well so no complaints from me.

Yeah, doesn't seem to matter what mode the car is in it is just much quieter than before.

i just checked and my dealer says they gave me the F020-17-07-504 update, which is the same as the others who don't have the same issue so it looks like our problem is something else

Yes me, as I've written before my early my'17 EU spec makes less pops and bangs after the update with the latest ISTEP version. But it runs better now.

Wish I heard a pre lci model... My LCI does all the burbles when letting off, but I've never heard loud pops and bangs. MDM mode is the loudest /most sounds. Sport /sport+ has a little but can barely hear it with windows up

when functioning properly my 2016 had nice burbles but not loud pops and bangs.. i think that would be more for people with an aftermarket downpipe or exhaust

Try sport+ full throttle till 4500-4800RPM and then lift throttle. PRE LCI did a loud BRRRT BANG! 😁

Too cold to do it now lol. Waiting on my winter tire form the apex GB. Even moderate throttle is breaking the tires loose
