The only problem for me in almost 4 years was PCM. Take it to a reputable indie Porsche shop for oil change. Half the cost. |

Is there a chance that Porsche engineers can't count?

The only water cooled 911 worth owning is a GT2 or GT3. The difference of a GTS and GT3 behind the wheel is as different as a 320i and a M3. The M2 from my brief ownership is fun and much easier to drive. I do a lot of track and canyon driving and the M2 is more playful than my 991 GT3 RS because of the ease to drive. However, the RS blows the M2 away from a "raw" driving perspective and there is no comparison in the engines. Overall, I would say that both cars are a blast to drive but if I could only have one, it would be my 911 all day long.

Silly question: are the GT3 only 2 seats or they are 4 seats?

It's nice to see the M2 is being compared to cars that are 2 to 4 times more expensive

Yup, different markets. I've never once had a 911 owner wave or chat with me anywhere and I run into a lot of them around the South Bay and driving along the PCH, even when I wave at them first. But I have always had Scion tC driving pimply teens compliment my M2 at gas stations.

I was also comparing a used 911 (991) to a brand new M2.
Like most of you guys, A 911 is my dream car. I remember my dad telling me “forget it. You’ll never be able to afford one”! Now that I can afford one, I decided on a M2 because of price and practicality. Will I regret it? (Still waiting for delivery) probably not. Cos 1 day I will have my 911...... it’s just not the right time now because of the kids. |

Just made the switch from 911 to M2
Last Wednesday I moved to an M2.
Owned a 2009 997.2. Black on black 55k miles. Manual. Great car. Purchased 2018 M2. Black on Black 10 miles. Purchased 3 days ago. Great car I figured I can always go back to a car like my old 911 if I want to. It was time for a change. Newer technology. M2 is quicker. More nimble. Better daily driver for me. And more fun to me. I've owned several BMW's. Several Porsche's. Loved them all. Wish I could have kept them all but that's just not feasible. Cheers ! |

The new GT3 technically has 4 'seats' if you don't get the optional race buckets up front. You lose the rear 'seats' if you get that option; otherwise you get the traditional (unusable) rear 'seats'.

I have a 2003 911 996TT, which I believe is a little smaller than the current cohort of 911s. Nonetheless, I definitely do not find the rear seats to be useless. I would not want to be a passenger back there myself, but for transporting stuff, or carrying my ~42 lb doodle, it's great. You will not get a Bernese Mountain dog back there, of course. Surprisingly (at least to me), the cargo carrying capacity of my 996TT is really only slightly less than my 1-Series cars (former 135i Coupe & 1M) and maybe about the same as my 135is convertible, which has a slightly reduced usable trunk volume. I do need to be a little more careful when choosing such things as coolers, especially for stuff that will go in the "frunk," but by moving stuff around between the frunk and the back and front seats, these cars can carry more stuff than you would think.

You're right - thanks for pointing that out. I can't remember where I read that, but it was indeed incorrect.

Just sold my 17 Carrera and have gone back to an M2 but this time a manual.
991.2 is an awesome car but I'm sick of owning such an expensive vehicle and have changed my priorities somewhat. My wife and I often swap vehicles depending on who has what on and she's never felt comfortable driving such an expensive vehicle. I'll tell you the hardest thing to do is not own a 911. Its intoxicating how they sound, drive and feel. I've lost literally no money on the few 991.1's and 991.2 I've owned (all bought pre-owned). |

This is incorrect. There are no seats in the back of the GT3/RS no mater which optional seats you choose. There are humps in the back where seats would be on a regular 911 that are carpeted over and there are no seatbelts.

I was looking at both the GT3 and the T on the configurator, and I briefly got them mixed up - it's the T that has rear seats but loses them if you get the optional full/race buckets.
