It doesn't bother me, although I will say that some cars certainly appear to be more effeminate than others - the TT-RS would certainly appear more so compared to the bulldogishness of the M2.
I could care less what anyone thinks about my 981. I love the sound of that flat six screaming behind me and the thing handles like a go-kart. Absolutely kick-ass car.

Agreed.

Although I let mine go recently - in an F80 ZCP, which I'm loving. Needed something with some additional creature comfort and practicality - but I hope to have a 981 again someday.

Yet inevitably, The M2 will be compared/tested against the 718 S and TTRS/RS3, cars costing $10-15k more. Proof that our cars punch well above their cost bracket. It reminds me of the GT350 and M4 comparison except in this case, the M2 isn't a Ford, but rather a "premium" brand.

TT RS is in another class above the M2 from speed to luxury. The RS3 though does not cost 10k more than the M2, right?

Do you have any idea how many sports cars are AWD? They can put down power better so they are faster...

Choosing a slower car doesn't make you a better driver lol. But I guess this is your rationalization to being slower than AWD.

AWD handles differently, that's all...

I agree, it's in another class of speed and luxury but also price. But that wasn't my point.

The auto rags will compare the $65k TTRS and $65k 718 S with the $52k M2. Why is that? It's because the M2 is in the same class of driving dynamics as those costing $15k more.

Not sure about the RS3 price yet, hasn't been released.

It's the same for the Ford Focus.

The RS is an STI competitor with its 105 trap speed through the 1/4. Its game is in triple A.

I can't think of a single actual sports car that is AWD. Some sporty cars, some supercars but no sports cars. They put down power better in some situations (wet and very tight slow corners) but most just understeer and plow on turn in. This lists includes every Audi ever made, STI, GT-R etc. Just about the only AWD cars that handle well are the 911 turbo and 918 Spyder.

If AWD is so much faster why does no legitimate major racing series on tarmac use AWD? F1, Indy, WEC, NASCAR, PWC, Aus V8 Supercars none of them use AWD.

I'm not really sure why I'm even having this conversation with you when it's obvious you're just an inflamed hemorrhoid of a troll trying to get a rise out of the forum.

Wow, you're missing out. Everything from the 918 spider to every current Lamborghini. As BMW had indicated, they'll start with the m5 and gradually add 4wd to the rest of the lineup. I guess you mentioned the 918. Also add the McLaren p1.

Dunno but the fastest cars on the Nordschleife ever in history were just rwd....

P1 is rwd

P1 is not AWD. You can get a Hurcan in RWD only as well. AWD cars are no fun. I've owned a few, and they sucked to drive (17 STI, 10 GT-R) RWD only for me.

I've had many AWD cars and loved them all. GMC Syclone, 2004 VW R32, 2007 Audi RS4, 2014 Porsche 911 C4S. All fun cars. I prefer driving an AWD car to RWD. Looking forward to the TT RS.

Many motor sports series no longer allow AWD because Audi whooped everyone and it was considered an unfair advantage.

Nothing wrong with preferring RWD, but also nothing wrong with preferring AWD.

People need to understand. OP resides in Puerto Rico, a locale notorious for cold, snowy weather where AWD could be beneficial.

Ahh! My bad! There is still the 918. I've also owned a gtr. I also owned a 2011 turbo. Boring to drive? Hmm. Guess you never checked out launch control. And at least Porsche sets up the car properly, the car rotates well, traction control lets the rear slide. Drives like a rwd car weigh infinite traction.

One thing is for sure, you can't think.

Let's give a few examples. A lot of Porsches have AWD, M5 has AWD, Lambos have AWD, Hell, even an STI WRX or Evo. Jaguar's F type can come in AWD...GTR? Hello?

So yeah...and you mentioned NASCAR...what? I don't even...

Anyways, I'm not trolling, you simply can't think. Not to mention the million dollar Porsche.

BTW, The same way a Ford Focus is compared to the M2, the M2 gets compared to the TT RS. However, The TT RS also gets compared to $120,000 cars because of its insane speed and luxury. So yeah.

There are tons of GTR's here, that doesn't have anything at all to do with AWD and the weather, it is simply a mechanism for being able to drive FASTER than, say, an M2 and M4? And M6...lol. .

Anyways, it doesn't matter.

TT RS may be AWD and you may see that as a con although added control and stability for a shared car is more of a pro for me...

It looks great, no one here associates TT's to "hairdressers" or whatever, sounds amazing and better than any BMW, and is indeed faster. More luxurious too, better sound system, better brakes (8 piston standard) better ride too (magnetic).

I don't see why people simply can't see this lol. Not only can it send power to the rear plus the understeer has been very mitigated, when are you going to really have that affect you?

Despite all this, it is pretty expensive in countries with high taxes (90-100k). If I move to the states, I'd save $30,000 for the same car...that's a brand new 2018 Miata.

In independent German tests, driving dynamics, steering, braking, and accelleration in higher gear from lower speeds, the TT RS doesn't come to the M2.

Imho those are things which are rather important to me as I want to enjoy my car/drive.

Also(as already stated 100 times before), looks and sound are subjective.
My M2 looks and sounds 10 times better than a TT RS...

AWD is perfect for WRC (gravel/snow stages) and Gr B /Rally X cars:
I love Delta S4, one of the greatest cars ever built, but you cannot compare a mid engined 930kg >500BHP from >30 years ago to a Louis Vuitton bag on wheels

Cheers
