Hopefully it doesn't have that signature M3/4 DustBuster whizziness.

Really?? Not at all actually, I think im being realistic. I bought the M2 for its balance, like an M car should be. Best one I have driven for sure.
If I want something erratic and brutal, I will go drive my Carrera GT thank you..... If it gets an S55 I wont care a bit, if my car was worth zero tomorrow, wouldn't phase me one bit. Its a really sweet package and BMW should be really careful on how they change the dynamics of it. |

Any engine replacement would if the N55B30T0 was a stop gap from the very beginning. And it could very well have been. As I said before, a MY18 engine change for base (i.e. to B58 high output) would be an absolute shitshow for MY16/17 customers who had waited a year to buy only to have the change occur 3-6 months after purchase. MY16/17 would instantly depreciate to about what those residuals indicate. Not the end of the world, but a factor that if known would have had many easily waiting just a few more months for a MY18 allocation.

I am really new at this speculating thing. But here is what I think. If the M2 is getting the B58, then it's very likely to not be an ordinary B58 (like N55 with some components from S55). I just don't think that BMW is going to do this since the M2 with N55 is receiving such a good review there is no need to invest in another bunch of money to make this change only after 1.5 years. My guess is that there will be a M2 with S55 as a special edition. Anyway I am expecting to take delivery of my M2 in 2 weeks and honestly I am having second thought. I want the new thing but having to wait around another 11 months (Sep 2017) is painful.. I guess eventually I will just get the car and enjoy it for now

If it is truly the S55, then you are looking at the M2 costing closer to 60k base. Unless the M4 is getting the M4 GTS engine, and the M2 is getting the M4 engine, and everything is getting a substantial price spike. There is no way they are just swapping 1 for 1.

Just spoke to the general sales manager from my dealership. he just returned from their annual meetings etc. in toronto at BMW canada headquarters. He told me this - The M2 will not be affected by the 2 series LCI with no major changes for 2018. it will receive minor cosmetics like the LED taillights which he used as an example. In 2019 they confirmed there will no longer be an M2. it will become the M2 CSL. What the changes are for the 2019 M2 CSL he has no idea and they haven't released any more info at this time.

Simple. BMW is dressing up the M2 in an M4 fart can exhaust as a scary Halloween costume!

Quite likely they'll release a ZCP edition. But I can't wait any longer been offered a generous deal for a M2 in the UK and delivery by Jan 2017.

Does anyone have a video of the mule? It would be telling to listen to the car for sure.
I am not sure that I see an S55 in the base car - some other M2 model, sure - but I would imagine that it would be hard to upgrade the engine and nothing else...

a) either build an entirely new engine at a plant that would use it in one version of the 2-series (with a very small production#) or b) ship the engine from the other factory So there is some cost there (A being much much more expensive - I think). But then we have the actual internals, which are going to cost more as well since I'm pretty sure that engine is more expensive (but like I said, I don't know what BMW knows). Then we have the modifications that might need to be made to the line to support another engine (I suspect that a lot of things change in terms of swapping in something like that, stuff we don't know about - but I do know that a tour of the SC factory here showed me that they have this stuff figured out and it takes a while to do so.). Long story short, I think $300 is way low - but I don't know what I don't know, so I'm curious where you came up with the number?

If I had a penny for every ounce of salt this guy is dispensing, I'd also have a Carrera GT
