Went ahead and did it...shifter knob

I had a 235i that came with the dry carbon shift knob. I really liked it. After some reading, I thought I'd put one in my m2. I like the blue stitching that IND offers. Looks like a very easy install.

I really think it makes a huge difference. I had one in my 235i and loved it. It was already dealer installed. I never really liked the look of the shifter in my M5, which is similar in appearance to the M2. It could be my imagination, but it feels significantly shorter in height too. Obviously throws are not effected. It looks and feels more appropriate in a car sporting these intentions. In my opinion it is a must have.

Install took literally 10 seconds

Massive props to IND again! Fast shipping and packed in a bullet proof manner. Just like my red starter button.

It's an awesome add on.

I had one on my F30. I kept it after I traded in the car to use on my M2. Now that I see this and definitely want the blue stitching.

I'm with you on the look and feel. The car should come with it.

Thanks for the picture!!

I like how the performance knob feels a lot more precise when shifting into gear - the stock knob was a bit vague and rubbery, probably because it was a lot thicker and taller.

One thing to note that it is less comfortable to rest your hand on the knob, which can be a good thing!

I agree. I think the taller stock knob and slightly more squishy material give it a softer, less precise feel, if only slightly. Could be my imagination too. Ultimately it's an appearance mod.

I plan on adding this shift knob too, do you have to unscrew the original or just pull up?

Just pull up. People make it sound like you have to apply a ton of force. Not true, came up pretty easily. As others have said, don't punch yourself in the face. Gentle upward pressure
