I was concerned about how that would look but if it is less visible than the factory piece now, I can live with that.

Other option I am considering is going ahead and doing doors, full rear quarter panels (which I believe includes C pillars), and full rear bumper (which basically only leaves the roof and the trunk unwrapped). But maybe worth it as I have small children running in and out of our garage with bikes and such so it might be worth the added peace of mind for that alone.
hey where are you located?

Sorry to hear that. So what are your options - pay to have that section redone? If so, how much would it be?

How long after you get the car do you get the offer for the 1 day school??? I'd love to goto the M 1-day school @ Thermal but wife would never let me spend the $1550 or whatever they are asking...

As others have mentioned, the gas tank is smaller than I expected.

Otherwise I wish I knew how much fun it was to drive. I'm racking those miles up quickly .

I could have it redone. I think you can polish the xpel but in this case I don't think there is a way to make it look better. I will take a picture.

Sucks that it doesn't look perfect, but it doesn't bother me that much because I did what I could, the rest is up to fate, there isn't really anything to regret here. When the Xpel comes off I suspect the paint won't be damaged.

To have it redone? Not sure, low hundreds? If the car is clean I notice it, if it's dirty I don't. I rather wait before I have any redone.

I can't believe I'm having the exact same thoughts as you... I got the following PPF done on my car (some professionally, some I did myself):
  • Full Hood
  • Full Fenders
  • Full Custom Front Bumper
  • Mirrors
  • Headlights
  • Rocker Panels
  • Extended rear fender section
  • Partial Rear Bumper
And at less than 1,000 miles so far, I got a rock chip on the drivers door while on the freeway a couple of days ago...

I keep telling myself that the PPF I do have will prevent future chips, but I really didn't expect to get rock chips on the door!!!

I used Dr Colorchip on mine to touch it up.

Was the result better than not doing it? I've not had good results from touch ups in the past on other cars.

Yes for sure. The color match is good, but it doesn't quite get the same shine that the clear coat would have. Still Dr. Colorchip has a good reputation for color match and ease of use. You pretty much can't screw it up. If the chip is deep you may want to do more than one layer to fill in the chip completely.

It's not a miracle worker, a professional touch up by someone good might get better results, but Dr Colorchip is simple and gets you most of the way there. There are lots of reviews.

If it's down the metal you want to repair it for sure.

Best pic I could take this AM before work, my right side is even worse but I would have to pull out of the garage to take the pic since it’s near the wall. Both sides near the bottom are stripped down to a yellowish primer, and abrasive enough to pull fibers from a microfiber cloth when I wipe the area during a wash.
Is that the rear wheel? Or is it happening around every wheel?

In general, can you combine with CCA discount on M school with other credits? For example, I recently got an offer for a complimentary 1 day driving school for being a loyal BMW FS customer, and it says I can take the $849 value and apply it towards 1 day M school. Could I combine that with the CCA discount?

Yes you can. Due to a strange situation I got 2 of those and they let me combine them and use my CCA discount to cover a portion of a 2 day M-school (at CCA discount).

I think the one thing I wish I knew when I picked this car up is really how fun it is.

I can’t resist being a hooligan with this car. Track mode exhaust flaps, + MDM loud burbles all day.

Overpass? Sport + romp check.

Not just that, the mod bug on this car totally bit me. OEM+ FTW

I wish I had known that, yes the exhaust on this car will let your inner 13 year old out in every tunnel.

I wish I had know that the burnt wicker trim would drive me to distraction.

If you use Shell gasoline, at least you can sign up for discounts to offset the more frequent fill-ups.

Those are quite a bit different regarding weight (let's take M4 for example). F82 M4 LCI M4 Roof

  • carbon roof: 4 kg;
  • glass roof: 12 kg.

Don't forget the sunroof itself (to be added, I suppose ). F82 M4 LCI M4 Lift-up-and-slide-back sunroof
: part ##1,2,5,6 weigh 10 kg.

M2 is pretty much the same (minding no carbon roof): F87 M2 LCI M2 Roof
, F87 M2 LCI M2 Lift-up-and-slide-back sunroof.

And it's on top of the car, affecting center of gravity height. So it's up to if you want a performance or a sporty leisure car.

There are more (arguable) considerations as well (headroom?, in particular):
So pretty much this is why.
Sun roofs are great, said 'no one'.
