BMW Ultimate Care
Hey guys. I'm planning on picking up my car this coming weekend and was wondering if any of you bought the extended warranty.
I know that self-insuring is probably the best way to go and that insurance companies prey on people like me... but if you DID buy the Ultimate Care (or a version of that), why did you decide to do so? Also, do you have to purchase the warranty upon delivery or anytime before the manufacturer's warranty expires? Thanks! |

I didnt buy it because this car will be driven maybe 2000-3000 miles per year. The other car we bought it cause the x5 is driven more and cost a lot more.

Having just purchased my M2 two days ago, I went through all the mental hurdles you're going through. While I don't consider myself a sucker, I have a problem where I think bad shit will happen if I don't buy the Ultimate Care, so I went for it and I have very little to worry about now. Stress free driving.
I asked specifically if I could wait to buy the extra year, and the answer is yes, but it's more expensive if you wait. So, if you want stress free driving, pay the money up front. Hopefully nothing happens and worst case scenario you wasted some money. *I plan on keeping my car indefinitely |

I went for it, from my past cars I expect to need new pads within the 3 years so it seemed like a reasonable choice.
EDIT: I did *not* buy the package that adds another year of service, just the one that adds pads and windshield wipers |

I got the Ultimate Care + for $600...its a no brainer...you are going to go through a set of pads and rotors in 3 years
Did NOT extend any warranties to 3-6 years (not enough marginal value for the cost) |

Did not go for it. Will probably need pads and rotors to be replaced, but I will probably go aftermarket options when they wear out as I don't mind washing my wheels every other day and like having pads that don't fade.

Yep, those are maintenance plans, but I was actually thinking about both - maintenance and extended mechanical warranties. I have until Tuesday to decide on whether I’d like to add either or both into my loan.
