For the side grills, I actually replaced the standard dull/matt backing plate with a gloss one, but left the chrome M2 badging in place as I think it looses definition with either the gloss black or body coloured M2 badging ... at least on LBB which benefits from showing off its beautiful curves. The slight amount of jeweling the chrome provides on the front, side & rear (exhausts) I much prefer over the blacked out finish and helps bring out some of the great shapes on the car. |

If it helps, while I was collecting the car from the detailer following the completion of its initial coating/prep work, I asked about how best to clean exhausts. Turns out that its rather easy ... I've got a product called Wheel Woolies that are great for cleaning the wheels ... but it turns out that the smallest of the three (which I've never found a use for) is perfect for cleaning the exhausts. I was advised some regular cleaning (same time as the wheels) will keep them clean. The link is for a product available in Australia, but for sure you'll be able to find something in the US that's identical and probably half the price. Of course, you may still hate doing the job Cheers! |

However I'm not a big fan of the M2 badge on the front. I may just stick w the non badge ones then sell the stock M2 ones. I'll probably get somebody to buy the M2 ones with the M2 logo on them for a premium

I prefer the black grilles and I can't believe BMW can justify charging the money they do for a piece of plastic but I suppose as long as people keep buying them they will keep charging a pretty penny for them.

Which would be a better match on the LBB- matte or gloss?

Matte doesn't match anything in my opinion... Unless of course you're doing Matte window surrounds, Matte side gills, Matte Carbon spoiler and diffuser.
Gloss has got to be the way to go, but that's just my opinion. By the way... I wrapped mine in Avery Gloss Black. I liked that I could go back to Chrome if I ever wanted, and I also liked the low cost!
