its a proper sports car. youll never look back. you'll actually laugh at this thread when you take delivery
I'm about 5'11 and my head touches the back of the ceiling in back. I don't think anyone over 5'10 would want to sit back there longer than 20 minutes.

Maybe I just lean back too much when I sit.

w.r.t. the standard things you take for granted in the 4er that you'll miss in a 2, I just returned from Europe yesterday picking up my M240 (no, I'm not about to start an M240i vs. M2 argument, this is about the 4 vs the 2 in general) after ending a 428 lease. A couple minor things I noticed over the last 10 days that I took for granted in the 4 that were missing in the 2:

- Front speakers in the door corners with the base sound system (not HK)
- Trunk does not open and lift on its own, you have to raise it manually
- No waving your foot under the rear bumper to open the trunk with CA (potentially related to above)
- 60/40 folding seats (4er had 40/20/40)
- No "seat bot" (as my GF calls it) handing you your seat belt

I think maybe the 2 series in some regions is 40/20/40, but not where we are.

I actually prefer the trunk not to open and lift. I've had too many times where the keys were in my pocket and accidentally pressed the trunk button and then find out my trunk has been open for who knows how long. Guess my pants are too tight. Lol

If you're out of sight, then I agree. However if the car is within sight and it opens all the way at least you'll know and can correct it. With only an unlock, you'll never know.

I had my doors unlock and the windows roll down when I leaned on my key......

So I got a cover for the key fob and coded out the ability to roll down windows if the unlock is held down.

Ive never understood an inclination to 'miss' luxury features in a sporting machine.
My M2 is used each day. The amount of 'luxury' so to speak- is just right.

Enjoy it and think nothing of your 4'er. No loss at all. The M2 is superb. If you desire luxury there are other choices.

The 4 series has more comfort options than the 2. The M2 has essentially the same comfort options as the 240. Even so, I wouldn't trade the M2 for a 240 or 440. The M2, M4, etc. drive radically different than the base models. While you may not see where the money went on the M2 vs 240, all the parts you don't see in the engine bay, under the bumper, in the suspension and steering (especially the suspension and steering) and elsewhere are what make the car different and better for anyone looking for a more connected and visceral driving experience.

The only way that the 240 is better is in comfort and softness, but you buy an M car because you want to feel the road.

Ah yes, the seatbelt butler. Because the 4 is so long, I would've had to reach back really far if it weren't for that extender. It's not necessary in the 2 which is good because it's just another weight adding motorized contraption that will eventually break. #AddedWeightSucks

They're also very wide. Wider than my E92 M3, that's for sure.

I moved from a F30 to the M2. And it didn't feel much smaller if at all at least in its width. Sure it's shorter. I think it's actually as wide as the 3/4 series by just an inch or so.

Comfort wise I had both an upgrade and downgrade...

Upgrades:
Adaptive Headlights
HK sound system
Sunroof
Comfort access
Rear camera
M steering wheel ^^
Upgraded iDrive screen
Split folding rear seat (forgot the option on the F30 and that annoyed me greatly)
Easy isofix hatch instead of hiding in the fabric.
Extended storage

Downgrades:
Trunk doesn't lift with the remote
No adaptive dampers
No front PDC
No electronic parking brake button

Overall what is missing is really not much compared to what I had before and pros easily outweight the cons

I was actually considering a 440i vs M2. Went with the M2 and haven't looked back, 4 series was like a boat in comparison.

On the inside ithe M2 feels similar in size to my old e92. I'm 6"3 and tried the back seat out of curiosity, there was actually enough leg room just lacking head room, fine for kids or shorter people. Not where you will be sitting anyway so does not matter!

I went to a 440i xDrive GC from a M3 and now I am contemplating trying out the M2. Not sure though, don't want to miss the 'niceness' of the interior, although I am sure it'll be more fun to drive than the 440. Not sure if it'll feel like a downgrade from the M3 though? Although, with 440 the comparison isn't direct with the M3 so didn't necessarily feel like a 'downgrade' even though it kinda is.

I have an E36 M3 as well and with my aftermarket sports seats, 2 adults can fit in the rear seats very comfortably.

Is it the same with the M2?

I believe you can have a good shop nappa/alcantara wrap your dashboard and door for less than 3k. Interior quality problem solved.
