Think of how much better you would have felt all day knowing you had the car locked down. Can't blame the dealer on something like this , they get calls all the time and get promises, money talks and BS walks as they say. Having said that I am sure you can find the car you want with some searching but put a deposit down this time :-)
Yeah not all is lost. He will be able to find another car or order it exactly as he wants.

10 months in. 2750 miles (not a DD).

3 things i like:

Tons of low end torque.
The rev match (6MT) is really nice. No idea why reviewers hated it.
Sounds great (especially once you put a sport cat/exhaust on it). Way nicer than an S55.

3 things i don't like:

The throttle lag in-between shifts (when WOT below 6000rpm).
Traction control interferes more than i would like sometimes (even with Euro MDM).
The occasional pebble getting trapped in a rear brake dust shield.

when this happens, is it possible to remove manually (easily)? i heard people had to take their cars to the dealership, but was that just for troubleshooting?

In my experience they don't stay in there for that long. Only a few min at the most and then they fall out by themselves. I assume the reason people bring their cars in is because the noise it makes sounds like something is seriously wrong. I had a pebble caught in between the pad and rotor once. Scratched the shit out of it and made an awful noise.

I ended up replacing the rotor. Should have replaced the pad as well in retrospect. Now i have a small line of rust where the stone damaged the pad because it doesn't make contact there. It will sort itself out eventually though.

4 months in 4,500 kms. weekend driver. I agree with most comments. Creature comfort and tech becomes secondary. Once I drove it 1,300kms (650 one way) all within a day and did not regret driving it for 12 hours (ASD was off - I fear the drone will be too much for 12 hours)

There were new brake shields they could install that would not have this problem as often or at all. Once I had my swapped with the new part, never heard it again. Was getting it once a week before. It sounded like I was dragging soda cans under my car.

My car was built October 2016 and it had the new part on it from factory. Not sure when they started adding them but they're standard now fortunately. I thought all 2017's had the part but i guess maybe the early one's didn't.

Not for me. Mine has been on the street under moderate acceleration conditions, can't remember the fuel level tough. I have heard that there is a PUMA update that is supposed to help with this issue. My car is going back to the dealer for further investigation.

I got my m2 up to 7k miles over about 7 months. The car felt numb to me and I was left wanting more in my driving experience. Yes, it was fast and loud and had good tech features. I'm now driving a 981 Cayman S.

But everyone is different and has different wants from their driving experience.

I agree. The rev match is quite nice, and because of the way it works in MDM and comfort throttle you can still do your own revmatch so you don't get rusty for when you do go DSC off.

The throttle lag in-between shifts was my biggest gripe but resolved with a ISTEP upgrade. Traction control interferes way too much thats why you go DSC off

As for OP:

Mines a daily driver. 3300miles in just about 4 months of ownership. I love the car, huge step up from the BRZ while still remaining the funness factor, if anything car's way more fun than the BRZ. It has just enough creature comforts that is great for a daily just has the rawness of a proper sports car. The MPE is intoxicating.

I also have the PE, so it's on 2 way coilovers which when dialed in properly they still ride quite nicely. Good balance between daily & weekend track car.

i've had the car since March and have put 12,000 miles on the clock, each and every single one of them has been enjoyed with a smile!.

took it to the stelvio pass where it felt right at home and have so far done these upgrades

Full AST 5100 Suspension,
M Performance Exhaust
M Performance Parks - Interior Carbon - exterior carbon
Endless ME22 Brake pads
Goodridge brake lines
Endless brake fluid
HRE LWR101 Satin Bronze.

my only negatives were the brakes, they cooked too fast but that was solved once i install the endless system now they are just about perfect for street/track.

and also the ride was too high but again with the AST system all sorted.

the car is just fantastic.
