I think not. Data suggests otherwise and if you're in a snow climate it's definitely the other way around. RS4s are E39 level of sought after now.

Yea around my area, RS models are still more valuable in the used market compared to their respective M counterparts.. I think Audi producers fewer RSs annually than BMW does Ms (not sure on this). I think that the M2 and RS3 will depreciate similarly considering both are decently low-volume.

There's a blue one in Peabody, MA. I know because it's the one I ordered and my sales told me this morning it has arrived. I am going to check it out but will mostly likely turn it down.

By the way, it is true the RS3 is in short supply. My dealer is an Audi Sport dealer (they are of larger dealerships and get more RS allocations) and mine is only the 3rd one they have gotten, one of which was a 2017 that sat on the showroom floor. There was about a 6-week gap between them receiving the 1st and 2nd (mine) 2018 models.
I get the feeling though the demand for it isn't all that strong. |

That is true. I was speaking strictly of US only. I am reading people can get $4K off MSRP in UK because there's no built-up demand there since RS3 has been available for years

But it's much smaller than an M3...Honestly though it's worth the buy only if you want or need 4 doors, AWD, and love thick, small steering wheels and like Spartan interiors. Unsure about reliability...I think it's a gamble with BMW and Audi (both equally sporadic and heterogenous with QC).

I test drove my ordered RS3 this morning. Just as I afraid, the drive was underwhelming and overall unexciting even in dynamic mode. In cornering its heavy nose is evident on initial turn-in. Once it turns in, it is very confident-inspiring in the way it claws to the pavement and holds to the line as I progressively plant my foot on the throttle. Curiously it exhibits more body roll than I'd expected in dynamic mode no thanks to its big moon roof. Exiting a turn is a matter of point-and-shoot, at least at my speed. Despite its cornering prowess, it does its things with little enthusiasm and even less communication with the driver. If it could talk, it’d say something to the effect of, “ok, I will do it but I don’t have to like it.”
Biggest disappointments though are its cabin sound and acceleration, both of which are supposed to its strong points. It probably sounds amazing on the outside but it barely resembles a sports engine acoustically inside the cabin with windows up (it has the sports exhaust in the Dynamic Package). Acceleration was good but it didn't meet my expectation from video reviews that I have watched. It may be fast but it just didn't give me the sensation that it is. It is a far cry from the wailing engine/exhaust sound and exhilarating sensation that I get from the NA V8 in my C7. Perhaps my expectation was too high and set myself up for disappointment. Perhaps I am spoiled. I anticipated the combination of 5-cylinder turbo and AWD to provide a much more thrilling driving experience. Sadly it didn’t deliver. |

Things just got a little more interesting for those who like to tune a bit
Unitronic just ran 10.93 at 126.33mph in the new TTRS completely stock other than a tune. They mentioned its in the 500hp 450ft/lbs range and still pretty restricted by some of the stock hardware |

Everyone knows they are fast. They just aren't fun. There is no fun factor in Audi's. I had an s4 and it was boring. I drove an s3 and it was boring. Doesn't matter what you do it's still unbalanced AWD with a motor that hangs out over the front axle and an auto trans.

M2 Vs. RS3
Quote:
The M2 on the other hand, maybe just cause I'm and we are BMW boys, felt raw, exciting, like a challenge because in the Dual clutch broke traction as i lifted off at a green light, it's just the feeling, and no matter what tech a car comes with, or leather, I love driving for the driving aspect, and that's what I feel in the M2! |

so I've been seeing a few of these around the neighbourhood and they are nearly indistinguishable from an S3. Something to consider. It doesn't look special at all.

guys, we have some official C/D instrumented results for the RS3 and it's f'ing quick. had my RS3 for about 3 months now. love it to pieces.
compared to my evo x, the steering is a little numb and the turn in showcases the engine placement quite well . but it's super flat in the corners, less body roll than the evo x and acceleration is out of this world. the pull from 5-60mph is literally in the same league as a lambo gallardo i drove from 2006. only thing i envy from the m2 is the exterior fender flares. but i like the fact only people who know cars can pick it out from an A3. less attention from the coppers https://s3.amazonaws.com/amv-prod-ca...uattro2017.pdf C/D TEST RESULTS: Zero to 60 mph: 3.5 sec Zero to 100 mph: 8.7 sec Zero to 130 mph: 15.4 sec Zero to 150 mph: 22.8 sec Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 4.3 sec Top gear, 30-50 mph: 2.8 sec Top gear, 50-70 mph: 3.2 sec Standing ¼-mile: 11.9 sec @ 117 mph Top speed (governor limited, mfr's claim): 174 mph Braking, 70-0 mph: 157 ft Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.98 g |

I just hate that the default / terminal state of this platform is brutal and punishing understeer.
And they need to make the damn sunroof optional, and provide a set of seats with movable headrests or holes in them for a harnessbelt. The hatchback would be even better, but noooooo

Yes, the RS3 is very quick. So is a Tesla model S. End rant.

and the sunroof...well, love sunroofs and love the look of the one-piece seat since i will never track it and require a harness. understeer isn't an issue either since i'm not racing. while i can feel a heavier turn in vs. the evo, the car is planted throughout the turn with less body roll. just wished the seats had more aggressive bolstering like the recaros in my evo. |
