Anybody done this with XPEL already on? I'm nervous about damage.

Thinking about heating from the backside.

Heating the backside would be the best idea. I have installed a few sets on local cars with XPEL and had zero issues. Just make sure the XPEL installer did not cover over the factory amber reflectors.

heated from the rear. took a surprisingly long time to get the glue malleable enough. I can't imagine how you would do this without peeling back the wheel well.

Is there perhaps a video guide coming for the rear reflector installation?

It is simple as long as you pop the ends of the bumper cover off...... really easy

Reinstalled One Reflector

I just purchased a 2017 M2 that already had the IND painted reflectors installed and noticed that one of the reflectors wasn't sitting flush at the top. I pressed on it and found that the painted reflector had started to detach. After communicating with IND, I did the following to remove and reinstall the reflector. The whole process took me about 30 minutes.

1) Turned steering wheel
2) Removed 3 screws on fender liner
3) Pulled fender liner back and zip-tied it to my wheel
4) Used a hair dryer on the back of the painted reflector for 2 minutes to heat up the adhesive and soften it
5) Removed the painted reflector with my fingers and a trim removal tool
6) Peeled all the old adhesive off the reflector
7) Peeled all the old adhesive off the inner fender
8) Used rubbing alcohol to clean the reflector and fender surfaces
9) Applied 3M RP16 double-sided tape (I'd recommend RP32 though) along the reflector edges. I had to use a few pieces to get around the curves. I trimmed the edges.
10) Applied 3M Adhesive Promoter (small sponge applicator in the packet) to the inner fender and let it sit for ~2 minutes
11) Removed the backing from the 3M double-sided tape and carefully guided it into the installation slot. I pressed the top edge in first.

A few notes:
1) I tried leaving the fender liner attached, but quickly realized it was going to be tough to maneuver the reflector and not touch the tape.
2) I used 3M RP16 tape, but I'd recommend getting something a little thicker like RP32 because my reflector is sticking a little far out now. Thicker tape would recess the reflector a bit more.
3) IND recommended using the 3M adhesive promoter

Yeah, I noticed one of mine isn’t as flush as the other side.
It’ll vary depending on the position and pressure it’s applied.
Still very happy with it as the orange reflectors were such an eyesore before.

Great- the reflector delete front and rear are going to be my first mods (other than the M Steering wheel the dealer installed). Looks easy enough to accomplish.
