So true

I miss the days where people would always ask me before taking my weights or my bench.

I always let people work in though.

I actually go out of my way to see if people need spots. Feel bad for the guys who look like a lost puppy trying to catch someone's attention to get a spot. Standing next to the weight for an extended period of time looking around while people just pass by.

Different world the gym is... in my younger days headphones were rarely used. People used to find comfort listening to metal weights clash together.

people who turn the tv up so damn loud (normally they're walking on the treadmill and watching a show - that's not a fucking workout) that I can't even hear the music in my headphones. and when they're done they don't turn the tv down or off.

Crazy incident at the gym last night. This guy was on the decline bench and i was over doing some shrugs as i can see him from the mirrors in front of me. He's the kind of dude that thinks he's big but he's really not that big walking around wearing a stringer thats clearly too big for him as his back and rear lats are pretty much non existent. Anyways I'm watching him do his first set of decline bench press but he's clearly struggling a bit as it was obviously too heavy. As he gets it up he tries to hook the bar on the latch and he thought he did as he just let go of the bar. I saw the bar come crashing down on the side of his face and he screams! Because i was across the room the guy next to him was able to grab and lift one end of the bar over his face until he squirmed out. He literally spit out broken teeth! I asked if he was alright and he said he's fine. I told him he should go to the hospital and get checked out but i think because he was soo embarrassed he tried to play it off like nothing happened and he literally jumps back on to do another set?

wow. I don't get it...lifting over your capabilities with a lot of weight (clearly noob as you described) and no spotter as well. Insecure people, I guess. Pretty much everyone starts out on light weights. I did and it didn't bother me one bit. Otherwise you're asking for trouble and injury, which he got. lol

I would do this. I like doing curls on the long bar vs the regular curl bar. I liked the balance better. And you can rest the long bar on the side adjustment bars.

I always wondered if people would care if I curled in the squat rack if I was curling 225.

I never got that strong though.

Didn't read the whole thread so maybe this has already been said.

Annoys the crap out of me when I see some scrawny dudes walking around with their chests puffed out and arms hanging out trying to act big and then proceed to not pull their weights off the bar after they're done. They think they're too good to clean up after themselves. I watched two of these dudes go from bench to bench just leaving crap there after they're done.

Why? Aren't you capable even of that? Or do you go to the gym to watch other men (shower)? I mean I do hate showing off but only when it's aggressive, forcing me to pay attention. Otherwise why looking at them at all?

You must hate it just because you have to remove rather than add. And seriously, is clearing the bar in your gym's rules or just your own? I don't see an issue in that honestly.
