You'd enable USB tethering, plug the USB cable from the phone to the BM3 device and off you go.

I say this tweak will be a huge improvement in term of user friendliness. It almost sold me, almost Keep trying and try harder please.

Should I pull the trigger?

Those that have pulled the trigger on bootmod3 what is your opinion on daily drivability and overall characteristics of the power increase? Any concerns about hardware fatigue? Currently I have a piggyback tune, Wagner fmic and a catted DP HJS. Seriously considering the bootmod3. Advice much appreciated thank you!

You'll have to differentiate BM3 (a tuning platform) and ProTune (tuning from pro tuning freak).

As for BM3 platform, it is ground breaking and the only one of its kind in the industry.

As for ProTune. Drivability is stock. Power increase is noticeable, but how much of it to expect depends on supporting hardware and octane you have.

I'm using BM3 and no biased at all. BM3 is a must have.

BTW, JB4 works well with M2. If you look solely after power, you should consider meth, ethanol and/or bigger turbo and stack jb4 on a BEF (could be BM3 or any other flashes).

You will fully appreciate what Bootmod3 has to offer, the OTS Map will be much more BETTER power output than what you currently have because they're making sure the car is Happy/Healthy first then adjusting parameters that no piggyback can touch.
The nature of piggyback is very dirty and tricking for so long is not good or consistent for the car. I have encountered many folks running piggyback and have excessive oil consumptions and bunch of random codes popping up unexpectedly.
When, if you go with Bootmod3 you can request how you want your Map (stock power like or more linear etc) with the extra features that are included (Burbles, GTS Transmission, Logging, flashing back to stock, and Custom Tunes via the Bootmod3 Dealers directly via the App) is in a league of its own.

If this software is anything like COBB's AccessTuner its going to be a must have. Just don't implement a "mandatory" $150 EFI training course for it. What's the expected release date?

Dzenan, two questions.

1) When wired to phone, does agent device still require another power source or can it use phone as power supply?

2) Has agent device received hardware update ever since it's out?

1) Agent still needs power source (preferably via Power Outlet socket not via glovebox usb) , Wired (USB Tethering) only enables connectivity instantly and cannot use phone as power

2) Yes,
Quote:
Firmware updates are rare and those need the SD card out and its done with a computer. Otherwise all other updates can be done via the phone.

This might be posted somewhere, but does anyone have any ideas on the gain for a M2 N55 with BM3 on a otherwise stock car? I'm more interested in the custom mapping capabilities, but running an OTS STG0/1 with a bit of a gain wouldn't hurt.

I understand the car heatsoaks a lot, but I plan on getting the Bm3 before the CSF cooling suite is out. I do have access to E85 here, but without a ethanol content sensor I'm not sure I want to play with that.

This may have been answered earlier, but is there a way to permanently enable overboost using bm3?

No, the stupid overboost will be permanently disabled. You car will be running at higher boost than stock tune overboosted.

Updates:

We released version 0.9.36 and added a number of features to enhance the user experience for tuners and those requesting tuning from them including:

- Comments on maps/tune requests with the tuner that now behave like Live Chat

- Pull down on all screens to refresh content

- 0.9.35 and 0.9.36 were really large updates on the user experience and feature front for custom tuning.

- S55 high boost testing and tables support for 30+psi high octane setups. Huge to F80Paul here for an incredible amount of data gather, testing and level of detail

- N55 table support has been expanded across more software versions including all EWG/PWG and M2 models as well as table and software support additions for the N20/N26 and the N63tu/S63tu.

I don't like to respond to such ignorant post but I feel kind of compelled to. The money PTF and BMS charge you for their tune is similar (699 vs 599?), it's the dealer removing and unlocking your DME that makes difference in labor.

And please listen to yourself - "jb4 has more safety parameters than the car's computer". A strong contender for the ridiculous comment of the year.

You're right, to each their own. Nothing wrong with valuing JB4.
