I debated between these two cars and settled on my M2, however I the local Ford dealership wouldn't give me the opportunity to drive the GT350. I don't regret buying the M2 but if I would have had the opportunity to drive the GT350 would I have purchased it? No clue. I wouldn't spen 50 large without at least driving it first.

"Because of everything that happens past 6000 RPM, I want this car....."

Sounds familiar

With all due respect to Billy, just because someone is a race car driver doesn't make their opinions infallible.

I'd agree that the performance of the cars is close enough that there are circumstances where the M2 might come out on top, regardless of driver, but I'd also assert that the M4 is the faster car all-around. That is to say, you have to look for opportunities to cast the M2 as the faster car.

The MT test was at Streets Of Willow. A useless autocross of a "track" on the side of a hill. That track is a joke for a car comparison.
Also agree 100% with this. Streets of Willow is a pretty damned horrible circuit. Not only is it tiny, but the track surface is worse than most roads I've driven. It's a very difficult track to use for comparison, because it's an outlier in size and condition.
I was just asking because I mean I'd take a pros word over myself.

I have my own opinions on the M2 that made me cross it off the list of cars I will buy next with after one drive on track (posted earlier in this thread).

First I'm an M2 fan. Just had one.

Went to Buttonwillow today in my GT350R but I took off the stock wheels and tires. Ran a much heavier aftermarket wheel and PS4s (pilot sport 4) tires opposed to the stock carbon wheels on Cup2 tires. So closer to regular 350 times probably

Ran 1:58:7
M2 stock ran 2:00:4
Modded with KW CS/Pads/Re71R - 1:57:2

In this thread: people criticizing $50k cars for not driving like $150k Porsches.

There will be a GT350R vs M4 comparison soon. Will be interesting to see the time on the same track and driver.

Pretty sure It's been done.
At Laguna Randy P did 350R vs M4GTS and the 350R ran around 1-1.5 seconds faster. It's not really a fair comparison vs a regular M4. Different tires (cup2 vs Super Sport).

Agree, I told the owner to expect a slaughter.

What I'm more interested in finding is the M4 time on our track compared to the M2 time.

On such a short track like TMP I don't think it would be a huge difference?

The 350R isn't just a tire upgrade which in itself going to 305/315 sport cup 2's would result in a huge delta . It's got more aggressive springs , damper settings and real downforce as well as slightly better gearing vs the regular 350 along with weight loss . Yeah it beats a M4GTS on equal tire it will murder an M2 on Pss assuming the driver can handle it .

I agree, results could be very similar to the M2 vs M4 comparison video from Road and Track. The 2 short straights are just not long enough for the M4 to pull away. If they used the M4 comp pkg, could give the M4 an edge.

Still waiting for my 2018 M2 6MT to be delivery, should be here within 2 weeks. Cant wait to test it on this same track after the first 2000km. I remember I did somewhere around 1:23 with my 2007 Acura CSX Type-S with I/H/E & a tune in 2010, and around the same time in my stock 2013 Z4 35is. Cant wait to see if I can do around 1:21 or faster with the M2
