Deal Check: 2018 M2 6MT / AW / 1-owner
Merry Christmas, Everyone!
I’m about to finalize this deal for an OG M2. 2018 / Slicktop / Manual / 24k / Alpine White / 1-owner Negotiated $48k but it’s local so I save on transport. It has newer Michelin PS4S tires and was serviced in the spring. New spark plugs, oil change and cabin air filter. Let me know your thoughts on the deal, thanks! Jake

Sounds like a reasonable deal. Great car. You should have fun with her.

Slicktop, manual, good history. Well negotiated sir.
Only thing that would make this one harder find would be if it was black sapphire metallic. Only knock in my eyes is it’s clearly from a climate that sees salted roads but not every car can live a climate controlled life in dry warm climates. That and the front plate. |

Congrats!!
I have a question, I notice you have had 2 M2's prior, one comp and another OG, what are your reasonings for going back to an OG? I'm struggling to pick between OG or Comp. Thank you! |

Unless something comes up during the PPI — I assume you’ll be getting one for the car — this looks like a good deal. I paid about $5K over your negotiated price for a very similar ‘18 M2 (though blue, and not slick top) with 5K more miles at the beginning of the year.

Great deal, looks good if nothing pops up during inspection. You're exactly in the range of what they're selling for. Roll winter tires into the deal if you're financing.

It was very much a weekend/summer car. You can tell from the servicing on the Carfax. Never done during the winter. Also, 24k miles in 5 years. Love the spec though! |

2019: New 2020 M2 Comp DCT with Sunroof 2021: Used 2017 M2 6MT Slicktop 2022: Used 2021 M2 Comp 6MT Slicktop I sold my 2021 M2 Comp for $70k back in July and was recently offered the chance to buy it back for $64k because the current owner is having another baby and needs an SUV. That car was pretty heavily modified, but couldn’t be tuned because the DME is locked on the 2021. I will definitely miss the seats and the nicer interior that the Comp gives you. Also the updated exterior, which is a hit or miss with some. How I looked at it, the least expensive M2 Comp 6MT cars are $55-58k with 25-35k miles. They’re either out of warranty already or they will be within the next year. If I wanted to buy a 2019 or 2020 so I can tune it, I’d have to upgrade the crank hub first, so that’s an additional $3,000. I honestly don’t want an S55 car out of warranty, and with rates where they are, the Comp just isn’t worth the extra $8-10k for me, since it won’t be driven half the year, and I don’t track my cars. If I hadn’t already owned a pre-LCI OG M2, I probably would’ve been fine getting another 2017. After owning a Comp recently, I wanted the updates this time around. The OG is also less expensive to modify, gets much better MPG (if that matters to you, and sounds a lot better. So it’s not all bad. OG is a pretty good value in my opinion. The Comp needs to drop back down to $50-52k for those high mileage older examples for it to be a more difficult decision.

I was considering doing that, but then realized I just got a new truck for winter driving, and we also have a new X3 M40i on winter tires. The M2 is on PS4S. I’m probably just going store the car until spring. Vermont winters are no place for a well-cared for car haha.
