But a tune M2C will obliterate an M2. There is reason everyone is excited about this vehicle, people who never even use "BMW" in their vocabulary are hyped about its release.

I've seen the N54 put out 450hp/TQ on the dyno sheet, I predict we're going to see the numbers in the early 500hp/tq. Which is supercar territory for 60k.
C'mon, I get your point, but comparing a tuned M2C to a stock M2 is silly. An N55 M2 could be tuned to "obliterate" a stock M2C, but again, it's not a fair comparison. Besides, you're not going to get 500whp/wtq from an M2C at anywhere near $60K.

Not taking anything away from the M2, I love everything about it but the fact is the M2 engine is just a strengthen N55 with a 335i turbo, boosted to the max. That's fine and I respect that they tried to keep it affordable.

The M2C/M4 S55 motor has a way more higher ceiling to safely increase the boost pressure. And it's already "detuned" from factory to 400 hp/tq, and close to 500 h/t in other stock S55 variants.

I am not going to debate it because I know with my own four eyes, I've seen the 10 year old N54 335i motor hit 450tq, I have no doubt the S55 boosted will be in the 500hp/tq club.

The greatest "gift" BMW ever gave us entry-level crowd is the N54 twin turbo motor; every magazine at the time said it was detuned just not to outshine the E92 M3. The S55 is just taking it to whole other level.

Also, I just hate the fact that current M2 owners get offended by the M2C's release. I bought a 235i for only 3k cheaper than the M2's MSRP in 01/2016, right when the M2 was announced. I didn't care or start bashing the M2 for that reason. I respected both for what they are because I knew there would be a day where they would be something better to choose from, as it is now..

How is the leasing on this going to be? Insanely high like the old one?

I’m sure the residual will remain horrible.

If you made such high level decisions.. you certainly should be able to see how it is used as an additional driver of M3 and M4 sales..

plus.. they kinda had a little bit of success with this thing called a 1M.. and people were clearly clamoring for a new version..

I believe this is why a lot of M2 owners are tight about the M2C's announcement; they assumed that the M2 would be a limited production vehicle and remain exclusive as the 1M is but that's obviously not the case...

I get it, I guess I might be pissed to if I didn't understand corporate greed and faltered on an "investment." The M2 is still an awesome car and people from the outside looking in just adore it and are not concerned about the nuances between the M2 and M2C, that us BMW geeks nitpick..

Maybe I missed it, but when could we see this in the US BMW website configuration?

MY18 US Configurator wasn't published until late August last year. The US website is always slow to roll out the configurators.

This is true, wouldn’t expect US configurator for months.

The M2 struggles to make 400whp on a stock turbo. The M2C can get to 500whp/wtq for $895 (tune) + $300 (downpipes) + $58,900 (base car) so yes it can for $60,095...

I just took delivery of a 18 M2, I'm not mad at all. I'm so happy I get to experience the N55 car and I'm going to be happy to upgrade to the M2C. I'm very happy there's a car to upgrade to instead of messing with swapping out turbos...

I had an M235i before the M2. Agreed there's barely any difference in speed between the two. However, on handling, the M2 is in another league from the M235i.

If straight-line speed is more important to you than handling, the M235i is great and you've saved some money as well!

I have the M Performance LSD and live in concrete jungle (NYC), so I doubt I would notice any handling difference, beside a harsher ride..

I still want a M2C though but I'll wait until I could snag a discount, I got almost 5K off my 235i; I'm shooting for 7k this time around..

I have the M240i with LSD and it's still nowhere near close to the handling of the current M2.

I can't doubt you because I have never driven an M2 but I believe you because it's not the first time I've heard that. Thanx.

Agreed. Supra/Z4 was in my consideration set until I found out about no MT. That is just too sacred a feature to give up for me personally.

Yeah, only reason I know is that I had the good fortune to be able to drive the M2 at an Autocross event. I leased the M240i, knowing I would upgrade to the M2C with the S55.

You predict? Whatever a tuned S55 is putting out on the M3 and M4 is what the M2C is going to put out tuned. Same engine same cooling.

Do the M sport seats have lumber support?

Also, is there any info on suspension changes? Still a daily driver?

Wow, same motor and similar power as the M2C, looks like I'm going to have to put aside money for bail..

The tuning potential of the S55 is no joke. F80 recently ran 10.7 @ 133 with just E85 tune, intake, and dowpipes(on street tires).
