Euro Delivery Help Please
Today my CA called saying that someone backed out of their allocation and that I "had a production number and car would enter production like next week". I was planning on doing ED and PCD next spring (based on my spot on the list and the weather). I need to submit days to be approved for pickup by tomorrow, and I don't know what to do. Do I try to request October and hope it gets built / I get it before bad weather / need snow tires / be able to drive it? Do I pick it up December, just put in on the boat, and have a euro vacation and miss out on my goal of driving it around Europe / Nurburgring? I don't even know if it's possible to request a March/April pickup. Would that imply I'm passing / does Welt hold cars for customers / when would the car get made / where would it be stored? I know people are saying that if you get an allocation, jump on it. I really WANT to even after I was resolved that I would be waiting. This is my first new car and ED process, so I really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

This is a good problem to have overall, options are good. Having said that I would probably wait and do the spring if you want to have a driving experience in Europe, personally I wouldn't want to drive my new M2 on winter roads in Europe.

Request an October pick up date. The worst they could do is say "no" and you can decide then.
Not sure what you ED driving goals are, but all the passes will still be closed in April. |

EDs are too special not to do them the right way and the way (& when) you want to do them. The demand will slowly ebb on these cars and you should be cool for next spring. I would wait. Good luck and keep us posted.

Update: I requested spring dates as I can't take off any days in Oct/Nov. The problem is that one person backed out of the allocation and the two people in front of me passed (delaying for spring pickup as well). If I passed, I would go back to being third come Dec allocations which wouldn't guarantee a spring/summer delivery. So hopefully BMW accepts my days and waits to build my car. I was told they wouldn't build it now just to let it sit. Totally wan't expecting to get tapped for an allocation for at least another three months, so the past day has been crazy!

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you - I was told there was quite a bit of "flexibility" in coordinating the ED date of delivery - at least 90 days - I am #1 on the list now but definitely would not consider getting the car until spring. Production will ramp up and in the end you will be much happier if you do the ED!
