2018 M2 LCI What happened to the Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Maybe I missed a previous thread but I don't understand BMW put's MPSS on 235s,240s & the 16 & 17 M2s. Now they raise the price of the M2 and decide to go from one of the best (Michel Pilot Super Sport) tires out there to a shitty one(Continental sport contact 3) Why BMW not cool at all. This tire has bad reviews on tire rack, I have only driven my 2 90 miles or so but I had MPSS on my 235 and they felt much better then these Conti's. Not to say they don't make some decent tires but this is not one of them. If your going to make a premium car you should pair it with a premium tire so it preforms at it's best. My car is not my DD so i'm going to be stuck with these for a while. Plus every time I put new tires on they scratch a rim or fuck something up no matter where I go. It's hard to find a professional installer around here. Anyhow thumbs down on the Conti's

I got my car 3 weeks ago and it had conti. This topic has been covered before extensively. Apparently BMW have contract with 2 companies to supply tires for them , so they don't get stuck with a bad situation like one company has production issues or decide to change contract in the middle of production etc
it also happened with M3 and M5 which are more " premium". Enjoy the car, and when it is time to change , put what ever tires you want.

Moving this thread to the "Wheels/Tires" section.

I'm in Houston, picked mine up the week before you. There was another LCI delivered with mine, also with MPSS. I wouldn't sweat it, no rhyme or reason to it and we're all going to need another set of tires in 15-20k miles anyway

My LBB came with Contis (Welt delivery) and I have no complaints with the tires. I'll probably get the Michelin's when these are gone just to try them out but I can't see them transforming the car...

I dont think BMW has started putting PS4s on M2s. Seems like MY16 were almost exclusively MPSS, then they started ramping up the Conti's for MY17, and now MY18 is a mixed bag. Not sure when PS4s are coming or if anyone has received them.

BMW uses many different suppliers for parts. Sometimes it's Michelin and sometimes Conti's(or Pirelli or Goodyear for other BMW models).

IF you don't like what came OE on your car... just buy some new rubber more to you liking. I doubt many people can tell the difference between the two tires in real life stop and go traffic.

I received my 2018 LCI mid-Sep 2017 and got the MPSS tires. Wondered if they came with MPSS and your dealer switched them out? I told mine that I would not accept the car with the Contis.

Michelin rep at M Track Days said they are still making and selling the MPSS along with the MP4S.

Don't follow tire history but I would guess the MPSS will slow down as the mold wear out?
